Yesterday I went into my favorite purveyor of fine firearms, and there in the case was a 6" 629-2. It had a unfluted cylinder, and probably about one box of ammo had been fired through it by the previous owner.
It has an excellent trigger pull in double and especially in single action.
Everything is nice and tight, No endshake at all, side to side play also nonexistant. This revolver is tighter than my new 686.
No mim, firing pin on the hammer, date of manufacture around 1989.
Perfect condition, no flame cuttingon the topstrap, faint turnline on the cylinder.
Now I was not going to spend any money for the next 6 months, but I really wanted a 29 or a 629 without the lock. So I offered $390 and the owner agreed to $400, Thats the out the door price, too hard to pass up,
I also asked about a 629 mountain gun, and he showed me the wholsale book, dealer price on a new one is $529 $6 shipping and then the shop markup is 25%, 20 for me.
So I decided on the used one.
