I live in PA and I was reading up on CCW laws. I knew that I couldn't concealed carry in Philadelphia, because that would leave the criminals at a disadvantage. What surprised me was that you can't carry a stun-gun in Philly.

My question to any physical cosmologist's or any kind of theoretical math scientists is, since the Bill of Rights (first ten amendments) was ratified in Philadelphia, why hasn't the 100% pure grain hypocrisy caused by the approval of laws that subvert the purpose of said amendments caused a rift and/or tear in the time space continuum?
I think the Anti-Federalist forefathers have gone beyond rolling over in their graves.

Are you saying that if you have a PA license to carry concealed or a license or permit from a state that PA recognizes, that you can't carry concealed in Philly?

Cite please?

You absolutely can carry in Philly. Much to the chagrin of the mayor and his Chronies though.

The mayor has fantasies about laws against firearms that he keeps making, that are in violation of the State of Pennsylvannia laws already in place.

  1. Is Pennsylvania an open carry state?
  2. Does Pennsylvania have a preemption law on the books?

If both are true, how would open carry be illegal? Just curious.

Sorry guys, I was looking up what states honored my PA ccw, and I think I must have read something on open carry in PA and thought it said concealed carry.
Please ignore my irrelevant rant (other than the stun gun part).

Open carry is legal everywhere in PA except Philadelphia without a license to carry firearms (LTCF).

Open carry is legal in Philadelphia with any PA-recognized concealed carry permit or license.

Concealed carry is legal everywhere in the state with any PA-recognized concealed carry permit or license.

Concealed carry in a vehicle is legal in PA with any state carry permit/license, even those not normally recognized by PA.

Thank you, General Geoff. Now if my wife doesn't gritch too much, I may open carry on my Texas CHL next time I in the city of brotherly love.

General Geoff is correct, with one important addition:

Open Carry IS NOT legal in a vehicle, unless you have a carry permit.

yeah, state law trumps whatever local laws that that nutty mayor nutter tries to enact. that is to say, if you do choose to open carry in philadelphia if you have a concealed carry permit, you better believe the police won't take too kindly to it and you will be harassed. many of the police are not well versed in the actual law and if they see a firearm on you, you will be in for a long day.
