Between black coffee, and shiftn' gears
H&R Single Shot , Youth Model, 20 gauge.
This one is the black finish, factory recoil pad, with plain barrel, and fixed modified choke.

I keep one just like it handy, as do a number of folks.

This one is a user, and I mean a user down in farm country.
It has busted clays, felled ducks, deer, turkey, small game, pests and the fun stuff like balloons and tin cans.

This one, like mine and others, shoots great slug groups, and pellet patterns, including #3 buck shot.

Total length is 36" and the barrel is 22".

Tough little fella, riding in trucks, tractors, combines, being used in all types of weather.

January of 2008 this one survived the tornadoes that ripped through here.
The glass in the farm truck was busted out, and Lady Luck decided to let that truck be, and instead take down a shed about 20 steps away.

April of 2008, this little fella was again hit.
This time the truck, an old one, was tossed and wrapped around a big old tree.
Little fella was found late the next day about 200 yds away in a muddy field.

Again, this little fella was taken apart, checked out, cleaned up and put back together with some nice hugs to make him feel better.
He still shot POA/POI and patterned his loads like he always did.

May 02, 2008, Little fella was again affected by a tornado.
While cars were tossed about on the Interstate not far away, he was tossed in a field, in a farm truck.
Driver left the truck, running and dove into a ditch.
The truck was scooted sideways, some 50 yds and then stopped.
Lady Luck decided to not flip this truck over.

Little fella has been a hard worker, and earned a spot in the Big House.
He served well, and still will, tough little fella indeed.

He cleaned up fine, and again he shoots like he always did.

*tough*

And I bet it doesn't even have a laser on it !!

Something to be said about simple and tough - it works ! Doesn't need to have the 12ga. bore to get the job done either. :D

Hey! I know how we can turn this into a typical THR thread about equipment preferences!

My 20 gauge Ithaca 66 is better, and recoil pads are for wimps.

And my uncle's 3rd cousin's sister-in-law's cousin had a Beretta O/U, and it broke. All he did was run over it with a tractor. What a POS! Whereas, I've put 17 rounds through the Ithaca farm gun, without any trouble, so it must be better than a Purdey.

Yeah since society has become so civilized, there is no need to do the tractor test on shotguns anymore.

Now the shotgun just has to be able to withstand 243 digital pictures being taken to post on teh Intrawebz and it is called good to go.

*whups*

Did I really type that?

*wink*

Whats tougher, the gun or your will to live in a tornado stricken area such as that? :neener:

Well, at least he probably doesn't have to pay $400,000 to live on a shared postage stamp.

Hey! I know how we can turn this into a typical THR thread about equipment preferences!

Then we would have to change the thread to something like " H&R topper 20ga. VS Remington SP10 10ga."

And maybe throw in something about zombi's and which is best one for that. :D

Sounds to me that "Zombies" aren't the problem. He needs to work up a good "Tornado" killin' load. In that case I'd go with the SP-10. :D

i got the same for my first shotgun, but not the youth model. it was a little beat up when i got it but its nice and cleaned up now, love taking it out clay shooting, cant wait for duck season to get my first duck with it over my mossberg 12gauge pump.

I enjoy the shotgun forum, It's a lot less tacticool and more to the point of what a shotgun is for........Having fun!
Longboard

Oh, man...

Sounds like you have the 20 Gauge Single Shot Shotgun of Tornado Summoning +5

I don't which is more embarrassing.... that I got this joke, or that it was as funny as it was.

Totally, completely OT, but... Has anyone else noticed that nerds tend to love guns? Heck, even ultra-liberal Alpha Geeks like Richard Stallman seem to feel the magnetic pull of things that make loud bangs and put holes in stuff.

/nerd
