I only just became member of this forum (may 15) & if there had been a "smilie" of
one tipping its hat in gratitude, respect & appreciation, I would use it now.

I am not yet entirely familiar with what is allowed in which forum subdivision,
so pardon me if this request is out of line :
Can I ask if there are any other THR members from Belgium ?
Or at least Europe ?

Goedemorgen Chriske!

Oder verstehen sie deutsch? Ich wunsche Ihr ein herzlich willkommen. :)

If you browse posts, you'll get a feel for what topics belong where. No one will bite your head off, unless you are into flame wars or you begin bragging about your Dianne Feinstein poster.

Come on in and stay for awhile.

You THRpeople are amazing !
I never expected to be welcomed in my native Flemish !
I'm touched. Really.
Und, mein lieber Cannonball888, Naturlich verstehe ich Deutsch : das ist unsere dritte Sprache in Belgien !
Tout comme le Français est notre seconde langue natonale.
And (at the risk of showing off) because there are no Cyrillic
characters on my keyboard :
I sitchas, pa roosski, fsye gavaryat.
As to gun legislation, Beatnik, I'll try & expand on that sometime soon.
You people really make me feel welcome.
Thanks a lot.

You're welcoming a Belgian in German?

I never ran into German speakers in Belgium, but I was only in Brussels for a night - though I got around in Luxembourg speaking German. I'm betting speaking German to a Belgian doesn't have quite the same connotation to a Belgian as it would to an American, since most Belgians probably haven't spent the last 10 years on their PCs and Xboxes reliving the glory days of killing the master race.

Although French would probably have been more appropriate.

So, anyone know anything about Belgian gun laws? I'm sure EU involvement has something to do with it, but I don't know what Belgium was like before that. ( edit: got your post, I'm looking forward to it! )

Welcome Chriske, can't speak to you in Flemish I'm afraid, but I think my poor knowledge of French and German would just about get me through if you typed in a loud, clear voice ;)

So which part of the home of our 'beloved' *cough cough* EU do you hail from?

Moin Chriske, nein Du bist hier als Nordeuropäer nicht ganz allein.

Gruesse aus Hamburg,
Mp7.

meinen deutsch ist nicht sehr gut.

moi francois est merde.

Lol welcome it is always good to learn about gun laws around the world.

Guys, you have been watching too much "Band of Brothers." He isn't from Kiev or Kaliningrad... German is ok! Belgium has three official languages: Dutch, French, and German.

Chriske, please let us know. Do you shoot much in Belgium? What restrictions are there? What is your favorite rifle? :)

A couple of my shotguns are from Belgium. Fabrique Nationale is a great company and when working for Browning put out some of the very best sporting firearms ever made.

I was stationed at Florennes AB in 1988 - 1989. I was part of a detachment from the 485th Security Police Group that marched in the Armistice Day parade in Chimay on November 11th, 1988. Ya gotta love a town that holds its parties in the brewery. ;)

(I am hooked on Belgian chocolate and beer, especially Chimay.)

Aangezien je het toch niet verwachtte, welkom!
Altijd tof om een mede-vlaming terug te vinden op internationale fora :)
Vanwaar ben je ergens ? lid in welke club

So far the intro in Dutch, let's continue in english.

There are a couple belgians here, including me. Some people from luxembourg too.

And yes, our beer is certainly the best in the world :)

Yellowfin; FN in Herstal, BE, owns Browning and Browning has licensee rights to the Winchester trademark. FNM LLC in Columbia, SC makes the M240, M249 SAW, and M16 for the gov'mnt. Also the FNP line of handguns for FNHUSA (American sales arm of FN Herstal) and Winchester rifles for Browning.:neener:

My excellent Opthalmologist emigrated Legally from Belgium; he specializes in the anterior -rear portion of the eye and has preserved my good shooting vision with his surgical skill.

I appreciate Belgium!

Belgian ales. Interesting stuff.

That's about my only experience with Belgium. Oh yeah. I have a preban FN FAL too. :D

Welcome chriske. New members must send a six pack (4-pack will work) to all old members. Duvel would be fine. Seriously though, welcome...and don't take any generalized anti-Euro comments too personally.
