3 years ago I purchased an M1 and 03 from CMP and put them in the safe. Now I have some time to shoot them I'm wondering what prep work needs to be done before shooting, how to clean them afterwords, and how to lube them afterwords. I seem to recall obtaining a bunch of little cups of grease with the yellow screw on tops that I think are supposed to be used with the M1????

Any input on this would be much appreciated!

First of all, be sure the rifle is de-greased and the bore is clean. Lube the rifle as you would any other rifle.

Next, use grease (from those little cups) on key contact points -- where the op rod rubs against the bottom of the bore, on the caming surfaces of the bolt, and on the back of the bolt where it rubs against the receiver.

After firing, clean the bore as with any rifle. If you're not firing the rifle again for a while, wipe the grease off, lest it collect grit and grime, and re-grease the next time you shoot.

Here you go. White lithium grease works great. Lubiplate from Home Depot or Lowe's.

Of course you can buy Super_Duper Gun Grease for fifty times the cost of the Lubriplate if it makes you feel better.
