I've been wanting one for a long time and couldn't pass it up again when I saw a CZ75B available at the gun store on July 3rd.

Now nine days and a few hundred rounds of 9mm later, I can't stop shooting it.

It's accurate, very solid feeling, and fits my hand just perfect.

It came with two 16 rnd mags and I bought six more Mec-Gar mags for it, all of which function just fine.

I couldn't decide between one in blued or stainless and would have flipped a coin over the matter if the store had both. Fate made my decision for me - stainless steel.

I love this pistol. :D

You will find they multiply, not sure how that happens......I only needed/wanted one and now have three.......there great shooters!

Yup Zs do tend to breed in the gunsafe. CZ was actually my second choice for a .40 (S&W being the first). Couldn't find a smith in the model I wanted to save my life. So I picked up the CZ, started the paper work, turned around and there was the Smith I wanted. OMG was I pissed.

Long story stort that feeling went away the first time I went to the range I have 3 CZs as well and I've got my eye on a 4th & a 5th and a...

Good shooting & welcome to the cult

Congrats! I pick up my Kadet Kit next week and I will be getting an OD 75B in early august, coinciding with my 22nd birthday!

Congrats. Great looking weapon. You are going to love it. If not, let me know:p

Do yourself a favor and invest in the Kadet Kit. A CZ's best accessory.

Great job!

I took my 75 out for a spin today.

Only got three holes in the target though. Lucky for me it was 45 rounds spread over three targets.

Fantastic firearms!

I was already considering having them order a CZ97 for me but after seeing how scarce mags are for it and how expensive  they are, I think I'd be better off just sticking with my 1911's, which I already have beaucoup mags for, and just going ahead and getting a blued CZ75B.

You guys are right. They're addictive. It's hard not to compare it to my FN Hi-Power and concede that the Czechs improved on the design by merely improving the ergonomics if nothing else.

Congrats on the CZ!

I've been longing to get my paws on one for awhile just to see if it fits as good as it looks like it would.

Unfortunately in my little blue state, I can't even touch a handgun without the permit 'in hand'...

Any chance you could do an old dog a favor?

Give me your best rough guestimate of the distance between the top of the back strap area and the center of the trigger?

I would surely appreciate it if you could!

It's about 7.5 cm. It doesn't feel like it though because the backstrap is very rounded (almost a perfect half-circle) in cross section and the corners/edges at the front of the grip are very beveled.

When the hammer is cocked and the trigger set to SA, that distance changes to about 6.5 cm exactly.

Wolfman;
You probably already know this but they improved on the design by giving it the option of a double action first shot. I feel this a great advantage as the safety of the hi-power tends to come off almost too easily on occasion. Also, with a double action first shot the chance of an AD is greatly lessened if you find yourself in a stressed situation not quite sure whether to shoot or not. The transition to single action for remaining shots is not as difficult as some gun writers would have you believe..........just practice! Again, good choice and enjoy.

Here you go: 3.08" DA and 2.7" SA ;)

Nice piece, Wolfman - congrats :D

Yes I know. That's one of the many reasons I wanted a CZ.

I'm already familiar with DA/SA as I've owned a Ruger P97DC .45acp for over eight years and that was my first in that configuration. I immediately saw the tactical advantage you mentioned and quickly learned to prefer it.

Another nice little addition is the firing pin block.

I never carry in Condition One. Yes I know the 1911A1 was designed to be carried like that but I feel mighty leery of carrying a pistol not only chambered, but also with that hammer cocked and ready to get some... no matter how well engineered the safety is. So... I like DA/SA. SA is my second choice, and I don't like DAO at all.

I want a stainless one bad. It looks great. What other 9's do you have to compre it to?

Three Browning Hi-Powers: One by Inglis, a Hungarian FEG PJK, and an FN.

Beretta 92FS police trade-in

Egyptian Helwan

My favorite 9mm of all is the Browning Hi-Power.

I was attracted to the CZ75B years ago because someone I knew had a couple of them (one was a pre-B CZ75). He let me shoot them one day and I really liked them. It struck me that the CZ75 is basically a Hi-Power which had evolved to the next level and was much more ergonomic and sleeker.

I'll compare it to my best: the FN Hi-Power

Machining and fit and finish are very close in quality. The CZ wins though because there's no looseness of any kind to be found anywhere. It feels like one solid chunk of stainless steel.

Accuracy is too close to call. They seem to be equal in accuracy, which is very good accuracy.

For ergonomics, pointability, and feel, the CZ75 wins.

The CZ75B is a bit slimmer in profile due to the more ergonomic grip and the fact that the CZ's slide rides inside the frame.

The safety on the CZ is easier to work and much smoother.

The slide stop is also better on the CZ. Very smooth!

Chambering the first round on the FN is smoother but I can't count that objectively, as it has a few years (decades) head start on my brand new CZ, and the FN was used when I bought it in the early 90s.

Overall - I prefer the CZ75B for its greatly improved ergonomics, higher capacity mags, and better designed controls.

The balance of the CZ75B when loaded with a full 16 round mag is simply exquisite.

:D

Kudos on your new CZ. I have been wanting one for the past 6 months or so. I will be getting one soon.

Thanks, Wolfman and Andy C.

I appreciate it. I wanted to compare it to my Para P13, which comes out to 6.8 cm or 2.7 inches so very close...

Thanks again!

THe CZ 75 & follow on variants, although the full size 75 looks very similiar to a Browning Hi-Power, it is much more. THe Browning Hi-Power is NOT the
greatest creation by JMB. JMB only had prototypes created before his death. JMB was working for FN and trying to work around the patents held by COlt but which were his designs in the 1911. His successor added the double stack magazine because the French asked for this feature - in the end
they backed out and went with a french design that would be a pre-lude to the famed for it's accuracy the SIg P210. This brings us up to the CZ 75B, which is not ground breaking in design but a good combo of designs, in that it has a much superior trigger DA/SA, the slide rails inside the frame like a P210 Double stack mag, and very nice ergos for the hand, with a great quality control and best value on the market for a basic service pistol.
SOmething not mentioned, perhaps older 75Bs don't have this but my 75B
has the three white dot novak like sights along with a full length serrated
rib that makes for a clean sight radius.

I bought a 75B two months ago, 500 rds fired of every bullet weight and tyhpe I have gotten a hold of, and it is 100% reliable, and silly accurate, I'm buying Kadet .22 LR Conv. Kit next and a Pelican case to put the package into as well as ordering extra mags in .22 and 9MM - trigger job, springs and hammer by winter.

Oh, and my shooting buddy who thought the sun rises and falls on Glocks now after shooting some mags through my CZ 75 wants one.

It's true. My CZ75B SA and my CZ82 have been doing something strange inside of my range bag. :what: I expect to have a bouncing baby PCR within the next few weeks. :D

Congrats on your new acquisition.

Congrats on the new CZ.

I recently picked up a CD-75BD as my first 9mm. Got it new with two mags for $399 plus tax. The DA/SA option is great, and I'd recommend this gun for anyone.

Yeah the CZ75BD is another contender for my next pistol.

I know it's going to be a CZ of some sort.

Maybe I'll get my wife a CZ75 Compact. We already have matching his-and-hers khukuris.

She was a city girl who had never touched a gun in her life until she met gun-totin', big-knife-collectin', Chevy-pickup-truck-drivin' me and I let her blast a few pumpkins with my .44mag Ruger and she got hooked.

She got to shoot my new CZ75B yesterday and she wouldn't put it down! Ammo is getting expensive these days! :cuss:

And here's where I give those crafty Czechs their props:

I'm 6'5" and the CZ75B fits my big paws just right...

... but my 5'4" wife says the same thing when she shoots it.

A grip design which can be used by shooters who are big, and just as comfortable in the hands of a smaller shooter... that's remarkable.

Did I mention I love this pistol? :D
