Did Gander Mountain do a good job parkerizing?

Quick question for the knowledgeable ones out there. I just had my M1917 (I already know its ugly bubba) parkerized and I've noticed there seems to be a few spots where the finish isn't present or as thick, so to speak, as it is on the rest of the rifle. I've attached photos to hopefully show what I mean. You'll note the bottom of the bolt handle has a spot that is almost not finished while the bolt release latch is missing a few spots at the back. I paid a pretty penny for this so I'm wondering if this is normal or whether Gander did a poor job and if I should write them a nasty letter and make some noise. Thanks.

looks like they did not hang the bolt, it sat in the bottom of a tank thats why the spot on the underside of the handle.
The same with any other marks, when you just lay the parts in a tank the spot the contacts the bottom or sides of the tank don't get finish or it's real thin.
ask them to redo it or refund the cost, it should have been caught in there shop.

Thanks Paul. I went to Gander today and showed the firearms manager what happened and he is going to make amends. I'll wait till it's all said and done to post what the results are. I appreciate your feedback.

It isn't like Gander Mountain was the old mailorder outfit with a headquarters and a real experienced gunsmith. They have scattered out all over the place and qualified people are hard to get.

There have been some good smiths come out of there, practice is good as long as you don't destroy anything.
There needs to be a better quality control at most store level shops like Gander but they do serve a need in most areas.

All smiths make mistakes, but if they are willing to fix them I'll go back.
They pay their smiths more then $10 an hour and they get benefits.

I sure hope so , I quit working there about 14 yr's ago and I was making about
15.00 an hr then

I think Gander (at least the one I went to) only offers Maganese phosphate, so yes it is Maganese phosphate.
