They pretty often run specials for $750, plus you can do the easy pay lifetime (EPL) membership which puts it on installment.

Congrats, Joined myself only a month or two ago, and got the offical conformation only a few days ago with my number and such.

Welcome, brother! We need all the members we can get, now more than ever. I know that sounds like a cliche', but if a Socialist like Obama can make it as a major-party candidate for POTUS, we're in deep doo-doo, and not just over the firearms issue.

The NRA isn't perfect but they do a lot of good too. I'm a member, my 10 month old daughter, my 2 year old son, and my wife are too.

I would also check out the GOA.

I joined a month or two ago, following the Heller decision. I am all for defending one's life and family/friends. Let's keep the good energy going!

+1 to ChrisVV. Everyone should also join Gun Owners of America. The NRA has a history of compromising on our rights. GOA absolutely does not compromise for anything. The best illustration is given a choice between Obama and McCain the NRA backs McCain, while GOA gives them both a grade of F, and they have the facts to back it up. I can understand the NRA's strategy; they undoubtedly hope by backing McCain they can influence him. But I also think it is important to send a message that Americans absolutely will not compromise on the Second Amendment, by supporting both organizations.
