I think that's what you might call it--when the skin on the your trigger finger gets caught in-between the trigger and the trigger guard. I noticed this happening on two Hk pistol's i recently tried. One was a rental compact 9mm P2000 and the other was a full size USP .40 cal a friend owns. I wrote it off as a fluke after trying one but then thought it might be chronic is both do it. What the hell is going on with that? Are certain pistols prone to this or is it the shooter and why?

Man went to the doctor and said, "Doc, it hurts when I do this". Doctor looks and at the man and says, "Stop doing it".

Problem solved. :D

The very same thing happens to me with my Glock 19 and my USP. I just move my finger out a bit, so that the tip of my finger is on the trigger instead of the middle of the first joint. I've considered relieveing the inside of the trigger guard but never done it.

Some of us have fingers that just go on the trigger, not somewhere on the trigger. :)

I bought one of the Sig P6 guns that seem to be popular right now. I am a Sig person, so I wanted to like it. The thing pinched the heck out of my finger no matter what I tried. Ended up selling it to someone with smaller fingers.

yep your calling it the right thing. Get a different gun. It only ever happened to me on one gun: a colt pony. Had to get red of it. Not worth the damage to your finger.

I ran into the same thing with a Ruger Bisley Vaquero. There was just something about my finger that would allow part of it behind the first joint to get pinched between the rear of the trigger the rear of the triggerguard. I mitigated it by putting on different grips that fit my hands better but it would still occasionally do it.

Muddflap, I had the same experience with a P6 I bought. I'm in the process of lightening the mainspring and putting on Marschall grips to see if it gives me some breathing room.

Only happens to me with double-action revolver shooting. For additional leverage on the trigger, I pull from the first joint crease. The tip wraps around and gets pinched.

I plan to have the edges smoothed out on my revolver triggers.
