OK, pretty embarassed here. But, I was cleaning a glock 23 and my 5 y/o came down to talk with me and I was distracted. Even though I was distracted, I know it's still dumb. While putting the gun back together, once cleaned, I assmbled this slide to the frame, and noticed something wrong. Uh, I forgot to put the damn recoil (captured/stock) on the thing before re-assembling. :what: Gee Wally, I sure hope someone out there has done this before, because I can't seem to separate the slide and frame now. :banghead: Any help??
Humbly Demoralized, and Shamed,

Is the trigger in the forward (reset to fire) position? This could easily happen if you pull the slide back too far while reengaging the slide lock, or have cycled the slide.

I just went and got mine and did this. I now feel your pain. What a nightmare. The barrel sticks half way out the front of the slide and it won't come apart. Ugh.

I was able to disassemble it by pulling down on the disassembly switch, pulling the slide forward, and pulling the trigger. It's kind of a three-handed operation, but it worked.

I did the same thing this spring, it sucks. I think I just kept trying and trying until it eventually worked, I can't remember exactly what I did ot fix it though.

I did something similiar with My G26 last time I disassembled it and had to do the three handed shuffle to get it disassembled again. I also had to remember to let gravity help me. I pulled and pushed horizontally for several minutes then turned it vertically and it came right off, don't know why but was glad it did.

Cool, Thanks...

Very helpful suggestions. I will give them a try. If for some reason you suddenly feel the earth stopping it's rotation....It's because it didn't work, and I'm destroying this plastic piece of.....Naugh, just kidding. I love my 7 Glock's. But after 15 years with these derned things, I have never had this happen. My Wife had to remind me the "Kids are home you know" twice, when it happened. I was pissed, embarrased, humbled, out raged, and I guess above all....human. Thanks for the help guys!!

You did it intentionally after another poster just described that he couldn't get it disassembled afterwards?

No offense, but what you were you thinking?

Another way of clearing this jam is to take the backplate off, take the firing-pin assembly out, and then use the disassembly latch to take the slide off the front of the frame.

No idea. I guess I was trying to help. Advice isn't very meaningful without first hand experience, eh? ;)
