I have Hornady Lock-N-Load AP. I have 2 problems with it

*I also installed the Hornady Lock-N-Load Powder Measure Rifle Micrometer Metering Insert last year.*

1.) My problem is the screw at the bottom of the metering plunger keeps coming loose. Its driving me nuts. I was thinking of using locktite but thought I would ask here before I screwed it up.

2.) I was having problems with my powder throws being off from time to time. I fixed that problem by using very fine graphite powder so the powder wouldn't stick to the sides of the rotor.

Today I was using 24.0gr of H335 for some 5.56 ammo. I loaded up about 200, Checking the weight of every 10-20 powder drops. Pretty consistent drops. Then I reloaded another 50 and decided to measure the weight of the drop. It was at 22.8. I was like Daaaamn!!!

Anyone have the same problems and know a good fix?

I'll make the presumption that when you first got the press, you cleaned the powder measure with warm/hot soap and water. This is to remove the coating Hornady uses for protecting the parts from rust during shipping.

The H335 is a ball powder, was the hopper full when you loaded the first batch and fairly empty on the second batch? The difference in powder colum weight can make a little difference, but in your case it should never be that much. I have my measure double baffles (made my own from pop can aluminum and a pattern which can be found on THR).

In the winter months the air is a lot dryer. The dry air allows static electricity to build up. IN the event this may be an unseen problem, take a very damp towel and wipe down the entire surface of the outside of measure. If you are in an extended loading session, do this often.

Shoney~ I believe that is the problem. When the hopper is full my throws are right on when it gets below 1/4 the throws are off.

I found your design for the double baffles. Going to give it a try

Thanks!
