Got to shoot a Sig 225 the other day in 9mm. I suddenly understand that fascination with Sigs. That was the sweetest DA trigger I've ever pulled. The literature says it's a 7 pounder, but it felt lighter. It's just so smooth - zero stacking - that it's deceptive. It's grip frame is a bit less long, front-to-back, and slightly more rounded - looking at it from the magwell, it's more of a rounded oval in shape - and it fit me well. Rapid-fire, I kept everything in a paper-plate size group at 15 yards.

Anyone else have an experience with these? I hear they have a shorter trigger that can be installed. Any knowledge of those?

I would trade my Smith M&P9 for one of these in a heartbeat if I could find one at a reasonable price...

I have a commerical P225 with a short trigger on it.... It is a nice setup....

The only issue I have with it is that there are double stacks now that are about the same size....

Great gun. The P6 German police guns are a good deal these days but if you want one for defense make sure you get the correct serial number range... earlier P6 models don't always like hollowpoints.

Installation of the short trigger is easy so if you don;t like it you can swap it out.

P6 (225)

i baught a german trade in P6 last year and have totally loved it ever since. i had to replace the recoil and magazine springs to make her run a 100% but that was no surprise with a police trade in. i also changed the hammer spring to lighten the double action trigger pull. man does it feel good.

www.arms-n-ammo.com has P6's with 2 mags for $325 right now. its the best deal ive found on them BY FAR.

cheers

I've had my P225 for about 6 months, I bought it for $319.00 with 2 mags and a canvas holster, and I liked shooting it so much after I took it to the range a few times, I was convinced it was one of the best gun deals I'd ever gotten. I'd strongly recommend buying a good example at a fair price - skeeter08

I have long had a soft spot for the P225. I bought my first P225 in 1992, and my wife still uses it as her defensive weapon. I briefly had a second P225 in 2003, which like a fool I used in partial trade for another gun later that year. I started looking to buy a P225 last summer, but ended up buying a P229 Elite instead. In a moment of paranoia (I felt the Obama-nation coming), I felt I better get the high cap gun before it went extinct. While I love the feel and function of the P225, I do feel some dismay for the 8 rd mag capacity. I find it hard not to lean toward a 13+1 rd P229 vs. a 8+1 rd P225, given the P229 has very similar dimensions and is really not any more difficult to carry/conceal.

I've handled P6s/225s and am personally underwhelmed. My CZ PCR is almost exactly the same size - even fitting in P228 holsters - and the grip and trigger reach are scarcely any larger, yet it holds 15 rounds topped up. I will take the extra shots any time.

I do like the looks of the P250, and it is not unreasonably priced - $650 with night sights, and at Bass Pro - not noted for discount pricing - to boot. If shipped with only one magazine that takes some of the luster off.

The P225 is a good gun. What I like best about it is that it is about the size of a Glock 19, but holds half as much ammo.
I don't think there is any handgun that beats the "size efficiency" - i.e., most compact yet still holding 16 rounds topped up - of the G19.
