Everyone seems to have one

10/22 - avoided it because "Everyone has one", I didn't quite care for their looks and the 10/22 name seems to carry a price premium. Went with a Remington 597 and a Romanian trainer.

Mosin - my first rifle (and second firearm) I have ended up with three because they are cheap (both gun and ammo), reliable, look good, have a satisfying recoil and have been accurate enough for me so far.

SKS - would like one, but the lowest price around here is about $250.

One Norinco SKS.
Two MN 44s.
Do not have a 10/22.

But the ancient Savage .22 is fun. All of my guns, including the Mini 14 & 30 have no gimmicks or gear (except carry bags) and are all equally fun:).

around me, anything that isn't a handgun on the firing line is gonna most likely be an AR, followed by M1As and AKs

The only one you need is a Ruger 10/22 or another 22 rifle of your choice. The rest are luxuries. I own neither a SKS or MN and don't want to own either. I have a Mini-14 as my fun gun. But aren't they all fun?

Mosin is the only one of those in the house for me.

Stuff that seems to show up at the range all the time:
Mosin-Nagant
10/22
Marlin 60
SKS
Glock

In my part of the world.....Everyone has a;
Marlin model 60
Marlin 336
Remington 870

336 and 870 here;
the Model 60 went to a niece, a nephew or a friend's kid some years ago.

I shoot a Rem 510 bolt action .22 from the 1950s now. Does using a single shot .22 make me look like a snob? ;)

Got a 91/30, but never had an SKS.

I had two Mosins. Shot one. Didn't like it. Sold it. Still have the other, but it's still in reeking Russian grease/mold amalgamation.

I have an SKS. Never have shot it. Also still in (really really reeking) grease.

Ian once christened that stuff the "Mighty Soviet Cosmoline Of Revolutionary Doom." :D

Calibre44, you have a recoil pad on your 10/22??? :confused: You Brits can't be that wimpy, can you? :D

Oh, and several Mosins, 2 SKSs and one 10/22 (with NO recoil pad)

I have several Mosins and one SKS but not a 10/22. No Ruger's in this house, I just don't care for them, never did.

Yep own a stainless 10/22 and a 870. But I do own a steyr rifle , a husqvarna revolver in 7.5x22 Swiss (if you have any ammo for sale PM me) and a ATC M4 rifle/handgun jam-o-matic pile.

I have all three. Just put a bull barrel on the 10/22. It's pretty darn accurate, but I want to get a Volquartsen hammer for it. That's supposed to help the crappy factory trigger. Plus about 10% of the time it fails to fire due to light primer strikes. Hopefully the new hammer will help that too.

SKS can't hit the broad side of the barn with cheap ammo (Hotshot, etc). Acceptable with Wolf, Golden Tiger, etc. 100% reliable as only a Commie gun can be.

Love my Mosins, M39 is a sweetheart, 91/30 is a fun beater. And I've got a Type 53 receiver I'm building a custom money pit rifle out of.

Lol:D ... no it's just to extend the stock slightly. Mind you I wouldn't mind one on my Winchester 94 Trails End - that crescent stock can 'bite in' on full .44 Mag loads when shooting prone!

That's what I figured, but I just couldn't resist. :evil:

My Win 94 in .32 Win Spl has a bit of a kick for such a small caliber too, because the gun's so dang light. I use the exact same recoil pad you have on my Mosin Nagant M44. That small gun with the 7.62x54 round is a real shoulder thumper

Sold off the Mosins and the 10/22. Also sold the Russian SKS's off several years ago. Still have the Norinco SKS. It is accurate and shot better than the Ruskies.
