Simple as it sounds, I was looking at the P220 Carry SAO, and a friend recommended I look at a 9mm. I don't want to loose the thumb safety, and the Sig felt like it was made for my hand. Have I got an option?

Thanks! A bit large, I should have mentioned that I want something carry-able. Am I out of luck?

While I'm here, I may as well ask... How does the decocker work on the Sigs, and what does it do exactly? I know it will 'decock' the hammer, but It doesn't offer any 'safety' right?

I really like the Sig and how it fits (perfectly) in my hand, but I don't want to pull a Plexico in the early days of my hand gun experience!

Thanks again!

Once you decock a Sig, the trigger pull switches from single-action (~4# pull) to double-action (~10 pounds). If you have a problem with "accidentally" discharging handguns with 10lb. triggers, you have a serious TRAINING problem.

This is the same philosophy that has worked for decades with double-action revolvers, so again, if you're not OK with the idea, it is a software problem, not hardware.

So the answer to your question is "YES". It does add a great deal of safety to the handgun. Plaxico's problem was that he wasn't using a holster of any kind, let alone a GOOD ONE; a universally stupid idea.

The only SIG pistol which I use is a P210, you should give it a try, I strongly recommend it for many reasons.

Yeah, because everyone just happens to have an extra three or four G's hidden away to blow on a gun purchase.
