can somebody clue me in on this? i could never understand the reason for doing such a thing. if you want a 22, then buy one, if you want a 9mm, then buy that. but to turn one gun into the other, just does not make much sense to me.

you're able to get practice with all the controls of your full caliber frame and most important the same trigger feel...besides the obvious cost savings and reduced distraction/recoil in shoot .22lr

two discreet pistols i've owned, which had almost identical feel...matched, by design, at the factory...were the S&W M-14 K-38 and theM-17 K-22. as close as they were in weight and balance, the triggers were never quite the same and each had it's own strenghts

not everyone can benefit from training with identical platforms, just as not everyone can benefit from a tuned trigger or a reduced trigger reset...but then there are folks who can see the difference between driving a Toyota Camary and a Lexus IS either

Thanks atblis. I'll go with the Kadet kit.
I have a polished stainless 75B. I assume the Kadet kit will work fine on that. It only mentions incompatibility with Omega trigger setups. Think the polycoat upper will look ok on the stainless lower?

Dunav International Trading has kits made for the Makarov. I just bought one a few weeks ago and it works very nice.

I have no connection with the company.

They're a bit pricey ($200) but it's cool to have. They're made in a factory in Bulgaria and they seem to work best with Bulgarian Makarovs. And no, Hungarian and Polish pistols that happen to shoot the 9x18 aren't REAL Makarovs. This kit won't work with them.

I have always been fond of the black slide on stainless frame (pinto) setup. The Kadet strikes me as a very well made kit. My favs are the 1911 conversions or the AA glock kits. Most major service pistols have .22 kits available these days, and a lot of foreign military pistols have arsenal produced kits, like the Makarov or the FM made HiPower kits.
