Ammo in VA

Back in April while visiting my brother in Northern Ohio I could not find a box of 9mm to save my life. Still very little in the stores like Wally Mart. At the gun show in Richmond, VA yesterday there was tons of ammo and it was NOT going out the door. The guys at Georgia Arms could not believe how slow it was, there were three of them and only two customers. The vendors that came in with the overpriced stuff were all alone with their bullets, I did not see anyone buying it. 223 was still going for 42 cents a round and 9mm was 25 cents, would be nice to see that came down.

I used to shoot about 250 rounds/month of 22 before this shortage hit. Now I'm cutting back to 100 round/month, gotta make it last.

Western Colorado is sold out of everything. A few 22's show up at wallyworld every couple of weeks but that is about all. You have to check almost every day or you miss them. The counter guy here says every delivery is gone in less than 2 days no matter what it is.

All ammo has been in short supply with resulting skyrocketing prices. As the manufacturers struggle to keep up with demand for calibers being run on by the panic hoarders they sacrifice production of the lesser demand calibers to devote resources to the others. Supplies will vary from region to region. I haven't tried to buy ammo recently but I hear and see even the 22s are hard to find and VERY pricey when some is located. At a show a couple weeks ago some slimebag at a show table had crappy Thunderbolts tagged at $30.

I asked about 22 ammo at a WalMart and the clerk said they get 20 boxes every morning... and the first guy there buys all of it. Panic buying. That's why some stores put a limit on purchases. I know this irritates some folks buy they are trying spread the limited resources around more fairly is all.

One ammo maker has said that the shortage is starting to show signs of easing and he expects things will be back to normal by mid summer. Hopefully prices will also come back down to reality as demand slackens.

Cabela's in KC had Wincheser Wildcat in their wooden box packaging for $25.00/brick, limit 5 boxes. THey still had plenty.

Everything else was gone, except for some Remington subsonics sold by the 50 round box, again 5 box limit.

Around here only the .22 shorts and high velocity ammo are available. Bulk packs sell out overnight at walmart when they do come in. Centerfire is just as bad too. Last time I was there they had a few boxes of .25 ACP and .357 Sig, that's it.

.22 ammo seems to be in great supply here in sc. can buy the blazers by the brick of 500. which i have....many times.
