My first handgun is a S&W 469 (double-stack 'compact' 9mm) that must be as old as I am. Bought it instead of a .22 because of a rash of break-ins in my area.
Still have it, and it has a 'soul' like a good old cop. It may not be that accurate, but it works every time, it has good honest holster wear, and it just feels 'friendly' in my hand, like a trusted buddy.
I'm looking to replace it for holster duty (the accuracy thing, and the trigger's the usual 2nd-gen S&W wonkiness), but I'll be shooting squirrels with it before even starvation can pry it away.
