How old would a Mossberg trigger assembly have to be to be made from aluminium rather plastic and to the best of anyone's knowledge will they interchange?
It could be brand new. The 590 and 500 trigger assemblies are identical except for the plastic/aluminum difference, 500 = plastic and 590 = metal. They are completely interchangeable.

Thanks! That's good information! Years ago Mossberg made a high rib 500 trap gun that shot extremely well but came with a plastic trigger housing. A friend who has one was talking about trying to find a metal trigger housing for his 500 trap. The trigger assembly always had the rep. of being a weak link on this trap gun. Sounds like he might be able to order a new 590 trigger guard and put his parts in it if he fails to find a used one. Appreciate the info and I will pass it on!
