I've done some searching of previous posts, and it seems that rather few people on this board own one, but those that do think extremely highly of it.

If you've ever handled, fired, or own/owned a PX-4 pistol in any caliber, I'd like to hear about your experiences.

I think the PX-4 was what I was probably going to get if I hadn't gotten such an awesome deal on my M&P .40.

I like having the external hammer and the DA/SA option. I've heard that they are excellent pistols.

I bought one in 9mm about 3 years ago and I have been very pleased with it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

I have one in 9mm which has been absolutely flawless. I have over 5000 rds through it with 0 malfunctions.

My PX4 .40 has been great. No malfunctions in close to 1000 rounds so far. It is accurate and super easy to break down and clean. I use it as my go-to house and bed side gun. Don't think i'd like to ccw it, as it is big and heavy. But you will not be disappointed otherwise.

It's hands down my all time favorite gun chambered in .40 s&w.

I've put about 1000 rounds through it without a single hiccup. I can't say enough good stuff about this gun. I've owned mine for 6 months and every time I go to the range since then it has come along and I've left loving it more each time. I will recommend it over XD's, M&P's, Glocks, and virtually any other polymer (or metal for that matter) .40 I've ever shot. The only other gun of it's kind that I feel holds a candle to it , for me, is the HK USP .40.

Now I will say, this is just my opinion. All of the other guns mentioned, and plenty ones not mentioned, are fine choices.

I have never heard of anyone who has purchased a PX4 .40 and not loved it. They are the perfect platform for the .40 round IMO.

I say buy one. Mine is a Type F. Do you know what type you would want?

I've got one. Nice pistols and typical Beretta quality. Feels really nice in the hand too and has an ambi de-cocker. If you get one and need a holster, let me know. I have a like new DeSantis leather for a right-hander and I'm a lefty. Anybody ever switched the mag release around on one?

Good experience overall. I don't own one, but I've fired one in .40 some AND I've done trigger work on one. I'd give good marks to overall build quality. The gun is intelligently designed, and although you probably wouldn't find many people wanting to do the work, the internals are designed so that they will take some working well and the gun is easy enough to detail strip.

Ergonomics are decent, and the ability to change backstraps is a good thing. I'm not at all fond of the safety/decocker location. That's a personal issue I suppose as I'm a frame mounted safety kind of guy. Having used it a few times at the range, the gun was accurate enough.

It's think its.. an good gun. Not one of my personal favorites, but nothing really wrong with it either. I think it's possibly just a little bit pricey for what it is, but not by too much.

I rented one a few years back and it was really nice. I think the problem with them is the size. Its kinda big for carry and when most people buy a Beretta full size they go with the classic 92. No fault of the gun though.

I personally would have no problem buying one without a second thought. I had a Cougar which I believe (could easily be wrong) was kinda the predecessor to the Px4 and it was a great gun.

Exelent gun . well designed , great ergonomics, typical stylish Italian styling, and completely reliable.
I have both 9mm & 40 full size versions. No issues or problems.
If you can try and rent one before you buy, at lease go to a gun store and examine and compare it to some others.

A co-worker and I went to the Range with a brand new G30 (mine) and he had a new Storm in 40 caliber. I remember thinking "what is wrong with him, why didn't he get the Glock". We shot several rounds that day switching back and forth, and I was GLAD I hadn't said anything out loud, because I woulda had to eat my words! That thing was heavenly in every way!!

I have one in 9mm. It's a great gun, my only real complaint has been a poor selection of holsters. Hopefully it will get better with time.

I've only had my PX4 (.45) a few weeks. I had been looking at PX4 pistols in gun stores and at gun shows for a good while. I finally decided to get the .45 version of it. I've put 1,230 rounds through it thus far. I can say without reservation that this is the sweetest gun I've ever owned. I am partial to guns with manual safety, decocker, and exposed hammer, and this type F has those features.

Just this week I bought a Crossbreed Qwikclip IWB holster for it. I am thrilled with how easy this gun is to carry in that rig. Given my ultra-positive experience with this .45, I suspect there will be another PX4 (probably the .40) in my not-so-distant future. Rock on, Beretta! You got it right with these PX4 Storm guns! :D

I owned a PX4 in .40 and it was my first pistol I ever bought. I didn't have a single complaint about the gun. It never had a single malfunction and the fit and finish were excellent. I traded it because I wanted a 1911. But it was a great little gun. Looking back, I probably would rather have had a 9mm, but that's my preference. I like the new sub-compacts too. I'm not a fan of polymers anymore, but I have no probably giving it praise and recommending it to others.

I have a 9mm F-type, and absolutely love it. Never a FTF/FTE w/close to 1500 rounds fired (all sorts of JHP & FMJ ammo). Easy to field strip for cleaning. It points very very well for me & has three diff. backstraps. I rented a G19, M&P, and Sig P6 before buying, and prefer the PX4 to all in recoil, muzzle flip & overall shootability.

I don't CC but sleep w/the PX4 right above my head as primary HD weapon. I can see how the size might be a bit of a challenge for carry, but for home or range use, I highly recommend it.

Buy one right.. w/real night sights

...

I've owned a Px4 40 G-model for nearly 3yrs now, and it continues to amaze me with its, ever, ongoing reliability and its accuracy..

I can give you a flawless, 8000 rounds of anything I feed her, pure trust, report.

There's a real nice one, with real night sights, for sale over in the Beretta Forum here:

Less than 100 rounds, asking 510.00 shipped, (not my gun)

Luck,

The PX4 is a fine gun, if you aren't looking for a CCW piece. For CCW it's just too thick. If you buy the full size I'm pretty sure it comes with a rotating barrel design, which is pretty cool. The biggest downside to the PX4 , in my opinion, is the trigger. The DA pull seemed awful gritty, heavy, and long. Still, at 15 yards, I was able to hit paper almost every time. For the price, I think you could buy a better, more proven gun...but the PX4 is not a bad gun, by an stretch of the imagination.

I have a PX4 in 9mm and it has excellent fit & finish, and has been 100% reliable. It is great for the range. However, in my view, as with most Berettas, it’s too wide for concealed carry.

I have a PX4 and PX4SC

both are 9mm and have performed flawlessly. My son-in-law has a PX4 in 40 which I have shot several times and it works equally as well as my 9's. Great gun, easy to maintain, accurate, and very high quality.

I've fired a 9mm PX-4 on a limited basis. I thought it was a great feeling gun. It is a friend of mine's, and he's had no malfunctions of any kind. I think it is a well machined piece. The rotating-type action is smooth and noticeable during recoil, but, if anything, was pleasant. Plenty accurate. I strongly considered one in .45 before going with the FNP. I don't think you'll be dissapointed.

I've used a PX-4 in 9 twice by renting it at a local range. I absolutely love it and have shot a fair number of other guns. I'm hooked on it, however, I'd prefer to buy it in 40. I have(I think so anyway) fairly small hands and have no issues, despite what some people saying only medium on up hands would like it. I also felt that it seemed lighter than it actually is, maybe its just more balanced. My only issue is I recently completed my CCW and recognize that it wouldn't be too practical for it. I might end up getting it first and using it for winter time carry and then when spring/summer rolls around again go ahead and get myself an LCP. Anyhow, that's my babbling, but I love the gun, it feels really solid and not cheap even though it is "plastic".

I've got one in 9mm and love it. I have the F model the exposed hammer & manual safety/decocker. So far I haven't had any troubles to speak of.
