One of my wife's friends from church has gone from being an California-"Anti" to a shooter. I am so proud!

She took our online course a few days ago, then when to the range for her qualification session today. These were her first 7 shots she ever fired!

Her application for the Florida CCW is in the mail!

Awesome!! I am happy whenever I see someone take a turn for the better. One less statistic.

Very well written book. It's the audiobook I give to my friends who are fence sitters on being prepared. Usually I'll give them that audiobook and a few of The Survival Podcasts on another CD. Lots of them have long commutes, changes their ride when it becomes educational.

California-"Anti" to a shooter

I refuse to believe you. I learned from some people here, that "you just can't talk to an anti - it's no use."

Seriously though, great job.

Guys, this is why we have to talk to anti's in a polite, respectful, well informed way. Think she's going to go talk to her other friends? I do. She might not change their minds, but she has planted the seed for someone else to, or to at least prove that all gun owners/shooters are not crazy hillbillies with mullets, but regular people that can be safe and trusted with a gun.

Every anti we convert is, a)one less of them b)one more of us c)the perfect ambassador for their other friends - probably much better than you or I.

Again, great job Oursafehome.net (Do you have a nickname or anything? It creeps me out to say great job to a website...)

With some books and taking people to the range, we can convince more people to be pro-gun, and turn gun owners into shooters. Yes...we...can.

Ditto. 'One Second After' is an excellent book and may even have influenced my decision to finally get a handgun for self defense as well. I read it about a month before I made my decision.

But then again, I have been reading 'end of civilization' scenario books since freshman yr of high school...a long long time ago.

Any other favorites? How about 'Alas Babylon' and 'The Stand?'

And congrats to your friend...I hope she enjoys it as I do.

Amazing what an open mind, a conversation and a trip to the range can do.

My brother was anti-gun for years. He is a tree hugging, ex Grateful Dead following hippie....but I took him to the shooting range with me one afternoon while he was in town and he has never been the same.

It started with the range and gun shows.
Then he bought a Glock 23. He now also owns an AR-15 SBR and we are planning a hunting trip for next year.

His wife also owns a Bersa Thunder.

The best part about it is he goes to the shooting rage with his tie-dye shirts and sandals. Im still working on that...

Tonystarks I had a really good friend just like your brother (exactly ) . He had always told me for years how stupid having guns and shooting was . I knew he would change his mind if he ever went ( after all he is male) . One day I was going shooting and was at a mutual friends house he was there . He didnt have anything to do , so I suggested that he go with me . I was waiting for the hippie liberal response from him , but , he said "alright I will go ". The gun that got him interested was the ol 10/22 (this should be every kids first gun ) . Shortly there after he was calling me asking when he could go again . I said p/u some ammo and I will go anytime . So within a couple of days he called and said I am going to Wallyworld give me a list of ammo , so I did and I let him shoot .44mag and 12ga , the AR-15 he was hooked . Now he has a decent collection , but , he doesnt call me as much b/c he has his own club memberships and private places that he has aquired to shoot when he feels like it .
