Can anyone direct me to a website that I can order mags for a .308 Saiga.

I just picked up a short barreled .308. I want to start with the mags, scope and mount. I don't have access to a range past 200 yards anyway so I didn't buy it for the distance shots. More of a fun range and SHTF weapon. Any suggestions for 100 - 150 yard scopes or sights?

I have used Mississippi Auto Arms and Carolina Shooters Supply for all of my Saiga mags & accessories and i have been pleased with the service from both.

As for a scope, i use a Russian made POSP 6x that mounts directly to the AK side rail. It sits a little bit high, but it is a nice scope for the money. The side mount is very solid and the scope can be removed easily. I got mine from Kalinka optics.

Are you converting this rifle?

promag, and surefire, makes all the mags you want.
get plenty of diff milsurp ammo, especially south american stuff if you can find it, and
south african will be very consistent as well, and try them all out, accuracy will suprise you.
and a posp scope is the way to go here. I would get an 8x.

oh yeah, if you take your factory 8 rounder, you can turn it into a 10.
cut off bottom 3 coils of spring, then on the follower, it has the legs that stick down( or up?), and then where they meet the solid body, you will notice very thin vertical rails, on the follower, and on both sides of the mag. these fit into the slots, of the insides of the mag body. cut off those stupid legs, and then cut around the whole bottom of the follower, until you have about 1/4 to 1/2 inch left, of those thin vertical, follower guides, that is all the length you need on those follower bodies, to keep the follower from flipping.
put back together, and you will have a 10 round mag.

I recently got my first saiga, a 223 16" carbine. I then ordered the side mount from CSS, which I don't see it on their website anymore. It's an aluminum mount, made in china. I'm not confident in the solidness of it however, although I have not tried it yet. It's a QR mount, but it doesn't seem like it attaches very securely.

excellent service and communication from Carolina Shooters Supply, by the way. When I get more mags, I will order from them.

Please be aware that you can't just slap on a Hi(gher than stock)-Cap mag on a factory fresh Saiga rifle and be legal. The scope and mount are ok, but stick with factory mags until you're ready to convert the rifle and play the parts game.
