Need Persian Mauser ID help!

Bubba sometimes really picks the wrong guns to foul up.

I saw this little Mauser at a recent gun show and bought it. Under those Redfield bases is the Persian Lions crest. I think this gun was originally a Persian Mauser carbine as the front sights are original. I can't figure out the stock. It has none of the features of a Persian mauser. Any ideas as to what this is? Any comments welcome...

The bore on the little beast is perfect. I'm sure she kicks like a mule!

What exactly is Bubba'd? The scope installation looks compentently executed to me. What halffassed work was done? We must have different definitions, because I see a really neat little rifle that only needs a nice Pachmyer Decelerator to be great...

Clipper, you're right, this is a pretty nicely done "bubba". I think it meets the standard of bubba-dom though just by it being a Persian mauser!

If it was a carbine originally (which I think it was), then they changed the bolt handle, and modified the stock at the front (its missing maybe an inch or two of wood and the typical mauser nose cap, lug, and cleaning rod.

If it was a long rifle originally, then they went insane...

A recoil pad is definitely in the future...
 
I'm not going to sleep well tonight. I run a retirement home for old military Mausers, and the Persians are some of the most beautiful and finely built rifles ever made. They pretty much just put a stake in the heart of that lion.
So yes. I vote that this one achieves Bubba status just by the fact it was a Persian.
I will keep these pictures hidden from my M-98/29.

This not a Persian Mauser It is Iranian model 49 carbine built in Iran on Czech equipment set up by Czech technicians. See Mauser military rifles of the world 3rd edition pg 246.
Very similar to Persian but the Farsi writting on side is different.
I think its a pretty nicely done except put in another stock. Missing german style sling slot in stock, grasping grooves on forarm, no K98 style cutout under bolt handle.
I think its very tastefully done.
 
Navy: All Persian Mausers are actually Iranian...
