Is a saiga in 7.62x39 reasonably accurate? Accurate enough to hunt with is my real question. Probably just whitetail in TN. A

And I was also wondering if theres an easy way to weight the stock a little? I've heard its a bit of a front-heavy rifle.

It's plenty accurate. I've heard 2 to 2.5 MOA on average, with some better. Get the 16" version, though. The 20" version is no more accurate. I'm on the Saiga 12 forums, and have read countless range reports and reviews. People get the same or better accuracy with the 16" versions of the rifles as the 20" versions, and this makes sense because AK barrels "bow" somewhat when the gun fires, and a longer barrel beyond the gas block would just exaggerate this effect more. The 16" version is not front heavy, and is a very handy rifle.

They are pretty accurate for an AK variant. Mine was about 2.5 and that was once I put a red dot on it. An AK is not a precision rifle so don't expect them to be tack drivers. I wouldn't use them for deer, but that's just me. I talked a coworker into getting one for his son to have as a hog gun on their game ranch. His son has since shot two Axis deer and both needed follow up shots, even with good placement. Axis are a little tougher than Texas whitetail though.

I used my Saiga .223 for javelina. It was tasty. So yes, they're accurate enough for hunting. There's no accuracy difference between .223 and 7.62 versions. The .223 version is just heavy as hell because it uses the same barrel outer diameter as the 7.62. They just underbore the 7.62 barrel to .223, resulting in a barrel with an outer wall about almost thick as the .223 bullet itself.

my 762 has fantastic accuracy, 2moa and better when I am workin it. go get some silver bear and brown bear, couple boxes each, and make sure at least 1 box of each is hollow points- they will cloverleaf at 50 yards for you...

Pretty consistently shoot 2.5 MOA here. I have shot better groups, but 2.5 is pretty easy to average with my 7.62

I haven't shot my 7.62 Saiga yet, but one thing I'm sure of the shooter has more of an affect on accuracy then anything else. I've shot to many cheap ass guns that were not supposed to be able (according to the experts) to achieve 1" m.o.a. Know your gun and yourself better, practice ignoring what other people tell you, you can't do!!

The saiga 7.62x39 is in my top 5 list for favorite guns. Its a highly accurate, reliable, rugged piece of equipment. I can't think of a better gun for the money. IMO its the glock of the rifle world, it won't ever let you down. Although, it is a little little front heavy, I did not think it was too heavy to the point I felt the need to do anything about it but I suppose you could spray insulation foam inside the stock. I have a bipod on mine too and it still handles w/ ease. Definitely a worthwhile investment, go for it. -Best regards-

Also, a rifle cartridge sleeve that holds 10 to 12 rounds will weigh it down optimumly given you spray the inside of the stock with insulation foam spray......at least I would imagine, might be worth a try.

You can convert a saiga to an AK look and it will shoot better? I think, because you get a pistol grip + stock, follow all 922(r) rules! or you will be a guest in the state pin
