I was wandering if anyone knows of a place close to NW Ohio to take a S&W 66-1 to get a 6" barrell fitted. I have a 2 1/2 on her now, and would kinda like a 6" also. And anybody know what kinda $$$ I am looking at? Thanks...-Joshua
I posted this question in the revolvers section, but that is prolly the wrong place, so I am reposting here...I was wandering if anyone knows of a place around NW OH, to get a 6" barrell fitted to my S&W 66-1. I have a 2 1/2 now, but would kinda like a 6" also, incase I decide to take it hunting...Also any idears about how much $$ I am looking at?. Thanks....-Joshua
The snub-nosed M66 has become kind of a cult gun for a lot of folks and a nice, pre-lock example can fetch big bucks on line. Model 66s with 6" barrels don't tend to command the same prices.
You could sell the gun you have (which should not take long), seek out a longer barreled example and come out ahead a c-note or two. Or--and this would be my recommendation unless money is really tight--hold onto the gun you've got and buy another. You can never have too many M66s.
I'll second the suggestion that buying a 6" Model 66 and selling the 2-1/2" will make you money where paying someone to put on a barrel will COST you money and lower the value of your gun.
I will trade you, I have a 6" 66 I dont have any use for, I can shoot as good with a 4" or 2.5"
but really, sell or kept the 2.5" dont put a 6" on it
or if you just cant figure out which way to go, this is what happens when you want a 6" , happen to have a 2.5 19 but only have a Python barrel laying around
