Marlin .22 Bolt Action Question

Which model was it that Marlin offered in .22 Short/Long/Long Rifle that was both bolt action via clip fed? I see that currently, they offer the youth models with "single shot" only which will handle all three chamberings. The clip fed offered today are listed as "Long Rifle Only". I'm recalling a blued, with wood stock, and the thumb safety they still use. This would've been at least a 30yr old offering.
 
The only model 22 that I am aware of that Marlin makes that takes all three 22 ammo is the 981T and it is a tube fed. I own one.
 
Thanks... I saw that one on the web site... but the one I'm inquiring about is definately a clip fed one... and would be at least 30yrs old when offered by them.
 
If you want a bolt action magazine feed .22 I think you will have to look to the old Winchester 69s and there ilk. All the modern ones that I know of are tube fed (unless you want an auto loader).
 
Found some of the answers

Model 780 is bolt/clip fed
Model 781 is bolt/tube fed
Model 782 is .22mag bolt/clip fed
Model 783 is .22mag bolt/tube fed

My concern is with the model 780. It was replaced (by Marlin) with the model 880. I do not know what changes were made between the 780 and the 880 (besides a change to the safety). I know that the current offering is the 980 and is "long rifle" only, and has a new fire control system which is of a different size.

So... what I'm wanting to find out now is... will a model 880 stock and barrel fit a model 780?

Anyone fitted a Marlin 780 to an 880's stock? Anyone used an 880's barrel on a 780?
 
I have a couple 925's here at the house and they do not function well at all with .22Shorts. Most magazine-fed boltguns don't, even if so-marked. Tubular magazines are much better suited for the purpose.
 
Shleprok62 is correct. The Marlin 25 will handle short, long, and long rifle from a 7 round clip. I understand they are very good shooters.

No, from the serial number it appears to be a 70's vintage model 780. The stock had already been shortened before I acquired it. Found an 880 stock and suspect it's about the same as the 780's just inquiring before ordering it. It's never had a feeding issue and shoots quite nicely.
 
I have a pair of Remington Speedmasters with the tube feed... it's not my favorite platform to shoot from a tube. Don't get me wrong... I love my Speedmasters just the same, great shooting little rifles.

I already have this ol' Marlin and it's time to give it a little TLC.
 
Probably the model 80 also sold as Sears ranger Ranger Model 103-2 22S-L-LR clip fed 7 shot rifle. Bolt action long barrel
sold by Sears mfg by Marlin probably 1933-34. Marlin Model 80 1934-1939
