I am looking into purchasing a left handed, bolt action, 22.

My wallet likes the Savage model Mark II.

Is this a "Full Size" rifle or is it smaller like some of the older Marlin offerings?

Is this a quality firearm? I have a Savage 30-06 that is very accurate and well built and I hope this is the same!

Any other left handed, bolt action, 22's that I should look into?

Left hand bolt actions are slim pikkins these days! The Savage is the best option in a lower cost LH 22.

IF you have the extra money, the LH Anschutz is a big step up, but a big step up in cost too.

I suppose I'll ask forgiveness in advance. This subject always brings out the bitter, mean side of me.
Lefthanded shooters are the last "unprotected" class of people in our society. Even "transgenders" (whatever the hell that is!) have more rights than us.
I've read different statistics here and there, but I think it might be safe to say that at least 10% of the population is left-handed. Do left-handed people make less money than everybody else? Do left-handed people spend less money than everybody else?
If there were an equal amount of lefthanded bolt action rifles in every caliber on the market as there are righthanded, at the same price, would lefties say, "Thanks, but no thanks. I'll just keep on shooting my righthanded bolt rifle"?
For years I've heard the "It doesn't make economic sense" for gunmakers to cater to lefthanders. What with retooling, and all.
Okay fine. But how have the archery companies been getting away with producing lefthanded models of every hunting and target bow in their inventory? Has that driven them to economic ruin?
Arrrrgggghh!!! :banghead::cuss::fire::mad::barf:
Okay, rant over.
Sorry!

Before CNC machines the retooling argument may have held water. I have wanted a Remington Model 7 left hand in 7-08 foe ever. Remington has made a left hand 700 model for decades, why has not the company produce this dandy little rifle for lefties??
(this is why I have a Savage LH 7-08)

I have a right-handed Mark II FV-SR. Love it. Smooth fast bolt, amazing trigger, and super accurate. I plan to add more Mark II's to my collection in the future.

Savage bolt action

Full size rifle, & excellent quality.Deadly accurate.I have a 93 in .17 HMR and a Mark II .22, You will enjoy shooting the rifle.:) Cliff

The Savage left-handed .22s are *blech* unless you want a thumbhole stock or a set of cheap irons on a lightweight barrel. The nice ones are all right handed. I'd imagine that you could call Savage and they will make you something along the lines of the GLV, but that isn't a standard offering for some reason, even though it would cost them zilch to produce it since the action, stock and barrel are already produced; they only have to assemble them in the desired combination. Same goes for most any of the Savage rifles other than those with the McMillan or HS Precision stocks or the .338LM models (they don't make that action in LH, at least not yet). I like Savage rifles and own several, but their LH .22LR offerings leave a lot to be desired.

For not much more than the Savage, the CZ 452 is probably the nicest left hand .22LR sporting rifle. The Anschutz is really nice but is more a target rifle and considerably more expensive.

I really like the looks of the CZ!

It looks like a high quality firearm. I have no problem saving up a bit longer to get one if it is worth the extra in quality.

I appreciate all of the help folks!

Thank you!

Yes. That's why i have a LH CZ 452 Lux. IMHO, It's pretty much the best bolt .22lr period...and it comes in Lefty!

I wondered how long this thread would go before the CZ 22lr would be mentioned. I love all of my 452's and my 455. Fit and finish is better that the Savages and accuracy is just as good or better. They cost a little more than the Savages, but worth every penny.

I think really highly of the couple Savage rifles I have.

That said, I think really highly of the 455 that I have too.

So... Get both! :D

Good luck with your decision.

ETA: Try these guys for the CZ. I have bought from them in the past, and I would do so again in a heartbeat.
