Saw it on roadrunner's news blurb. A $150K a year BATF agent has allegedly been given an office and no assigned work as a "punishment" over a running grievance/tiff with the agency. Your tax dollars at work, related to BATF payroll. Anyone else see this in the news?

Saw it on CNN.

Makes me feel even happier when I think of my (our) tax dollars supporting these sort of childish games.

What did Collin Powell say about some people neeing adult supervision?

Is there something related to guns in this? If the person worked for the IRS or FEMA or the SEC instead, would this be THR material?

I agree this is a way off topic subject matter, unless you just have a blanket dislike of the ATF and anything to do with them. IMO The ATF is a agency full of LEOs and I respect them, regardless of their pay.

Well, my post was a legit question. I didn't go research the matter to see so I don't know if there is a gun issue under discussion or not.

If there is, let's talk about it! If not :scrutiny:

I thought the BATF was directly related to guns, the enforcement of laws related to guns, and directly affects the freedoms we all enjoy with guns. No other agency has more effect on our gun ownership than the BATF. Am I wrong on this?

That was a very nonTHR response. Since the issues at hand have ZERO to do with guns or the RKBA directly, this is off topic for THR.

No other agency has more effect on our gun ownership, of course. But what did this agent do? Is this something to do with gun law enforcement or is he just having some personal issue with his superiors and/or co-workers that have caused him to be put on paid leave?

Similar to our dictum about "gun crime" stories not automatically being High Road material just because a gun was involved, just because someone works for the BATFE doesn't mean that their personal and/or employment problems are worthy of discussion here.

SO... what is the issue? Is he refusing to enforce minor NFA violations? Is he in trouble with his superiors because he isn't pursuing arrests due to administrative errors in dealers' bound books? Or is this one of those, "My office is too close to the bathroom," or "Agent Jones takes too many smoke breaks," kind of dust-ups that occur in every office and really don't affect our RKBA?
