AR trigger and sling suggestions please!

I have a bushmaster "izzy" M4 clone and have got it set up about the way I want it. I like to keep it simple and as lightweight as possible. The only two things I would like to add are a better trigger and a good two point sling of some sort.

The gun is pretty accurate but the trigger seems like it could be holding me back a little. I don't have a gauge but I would guess the trigger pull must be 8-10lbs from the factory. (maybe not that bad but it feels pretty dang heavy) I have heard good things about the rock river two stage triggers, but don't really know much about them. I want something simple, with no adjustments to worry about getting loose or breaking, but with a lighter pull, and I do like two-stage triggers in my other guns. I looked on rock river's and bushmaster's websites and was kind of surprised how much the triggers were. I guess that's just the going prices for the better triggers but it was surprising that you can buy a complete parts kit with the standard triggers for $60-80 but just the competition trigger is $150+. If anybody has any suggestions here I would appreciate it.

I also would like to get a sling, and have been looking at the VTAC 2 point sling. Does anybody have any experience with these and if so what do you think of them? I am also open to other suggestions.

Don't know about the sling, but as far as triggers go, neither the RRA or the Bushmaster two stages will even come close to the longevity and performance of the Geiselle SSA. I've had all of these and the SSA is the way to go. IIRC, the Bushmaster does have adjustment screws that can work loose. If I had to choose between the RRA and Bushy, I'd probably go RRA (although my RRA went to a long single stage over time).

In my experience, the SSA also works well with the JP spring kits if you want to lighten the pull to shoot some groups with. It's by no means a match trigger, but for a "battle" rifle, it's really nice.
 
I have the VTAC 2-point sling. It's, or rather was, pretty nice. If you are going to be climbing, roping, setting charges, or anything else where you want to use both hands and don't want your rifle banging around, this is a good choice. If not, it’s just a 2 point sling that’s really easy to adjust the length. I said was, in the opening sentence, because I shut the adjusting piece in an armored door, now it's just a 2 point sling. Previous to this I used a three point sling that I liked very much, but I guess the VTAC 2 point is slightly better.
 
I really like the RRA trigger and haven't had any problems with it. There are 4 or 5 guys I work with that all got Rock Rivers at the same time. Great guns and triggers on all. You won't be dissapointed. Brownells has them for $120.00 in their tac catalog.
 
No help of the trigger, but for a good sling I usually buy a Outdoor Connection SuperSling II. These can be found at Walmart for about $15.00 under the Winchester name. I don't see a need for anything else, they adjust easily, are rugged and durable, are comfortable, and just all around good slings in my experience. The only time I use something else is when I need a leather sling or want something historically accurate.

Those walmart slings can't be used on an AR. They are for sling stud use only. They are good slings just not for this ap. I would suggest a Special Ops. 2 or 3 point. I like all mine.
 
I really like Vickers 2 Point slings.
Learn to work the Factory Triggers. I really prefer them to every other type I have tried except geissele triggers. And they are a couple hundred.
 
Did I say a bad word when I used term "battle?" Maybe I should have used the word "duty." In any case, what I meant is that the SSA is a good all purpose trigger that isn't too heavy and isn't so light that it might be an undue hazard when carrying the rifle.
 
The VTAC sling is excellent.

You can lengthen/shorten it very quickly, depending on what you want to do. For military/LE situations where you might need to do things with your hands while retaining the weapon with the ability to use it quickly, it's about perfect (or the best so far).

You can tighten it up while in a shooting position to help steady the rifle, too.
 
Dunno about the sling but I just checked Gunbroker and the RRA two stage NM triggers can be had for $94 shipped. I use them in all my AR's and even in my hi-power competition rifle and it works great for me. If you want White Oak Armament used to sell a tuned version of it for $120. All of that being said...the Geissele's are about the best that can be had if you have the cash.

Wrong. Because it is not stitched together, all you need to do is take the chicago screws out and remove the swivels, then reassemble the sling using the swivels on the rifle. I have done this on several rifles, and it works fine, and you have spare swivels (good ones too) for later use. You can even purchase one without the swivels from online retailers (MidwayUSA sells them with and without swivels), if you want to save a couple bucks (though shipping will make up for this). If you do this, just make sure and remember how to re-assemble it, as it is somewhat complex (but if you forget, just google a photo of one).

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned JP Enterprises at JP Rifles. I've had one on my AR and there is just no way to tell you what an incredible improvement they make. My son gets one for his birthday in two weeks, already got it. You can get them through MidWay for about 130. Mine is a tactical and breaks at just shy of 4lbs, we shoot three gun and I wouldn't go less than that, but you can. Factory AR trigger are just the worst of the worst.
 
I have the JP on my dog gun it is set at 1.5 lbs. going to get another for my newest ar build.
 
I have the same rifle as you.

Spec-Ops "Mamba" 3-point combat sling is what I use.

And the Bushy's trigger is darn near mil-spec, I haven't even thought about removing it.
 
I have a Vickers Combat Applications Sling on all my long guns. I've tried others, 2 and 3 point slings and found the VCAS to be the best choice for me.

All my triggers are stock triggers. I've really never been into the precision shooting thing. I'm more of a practical shooter.
