Many have been following the development of the new Bren 10 clone that Vltor has been working on.

I paid in full for two of these pistols when the distributor first started encouraging their dealers to get a waiting list set for the first years run of these pistols in February. Bass Pro required you pay in full, and fill out the 4473 in order to get on the waiting list. Expected delivery in June.

Delays have happened and the second expected delivery date was published to be September.

Today I talked to Vltor on the phone about the pistol. First I was told to contact the distributor for information. Well, I felt that that was a way to get me off the phone and leave them alone, so I persisted. Why not get the information from the source, them?? After a pause, while the nice lady on the phone talked to someone else, I was told they are not even working on the pistols.

Same lame comment about government contracts as they spouted before. Now this counters their statements that they were in final assembly, and are just about here. I understand the troops need their weapons and they might be busy, but come on, the panic has been over a long time now. Just about the entire industry is struggling to move inventory. Prices have fallen and everyone is caught up, but them???

What makes this worse is they have not updated their website regarding this stop in production since June. They even stopped accepting comments when they started getting called out on their promises.

I want the pistols more than I want my money, that is why I purchased them in the first place. So, no I don't want my money back! That is a chicken stuff response by the company to defer their responsibility for telling a lot of untruths to the public.

I went through this with a 50 caliber rifle, and now it seems that I am going to face even a longer wait and more missed deadlines with Vltor.

This was so much a "done deal" even Fjestad's Blue Book has them listed as if they were out. They got taken into believing Vltor's line also.

They very least a responsible company would do is update the web site and say they have zero idea what they are doing with them, and not to expect a delivery anytime soon.

Rant over.

(If some one has a contact at Vltor, please ask them to join up and address some of these issues. Thanks)

Hard to imagine anybody paying in advance for one of these after the fiasco of the original Bren 10.

That was the exact thought running through my mind as I was reading the OP.

The Bren Ten Experience Part II. If they come without magazines it will truly be, in the words of Yogi Berra, Déjà Vu All Over Again...

Good luck, I hope someone finally get those things right, I always wanted one but have been afraid to toss my money into that deep, dark, bottomless, D&D, now Vltor, Bren Ten money pit.

My thoughts exactly!

Hey guys

The guy wants one and is explaining his frustration for getting one.

Let's be HighRoad and not rag on his choice. Besides...we do not know how this try at the Bren 10 will turn out.

The rep at the distributor I've been communicating with for about ten months now told me a couple weeks ago via email on a requested update that he has no guns & no idea when he will.

This & the "new" Merwin Hulberts are probably not the best places to put down deposits in advance, as things stand.

I'm hoping the Brens come through, but nobody seems to have a clear idea of what's going on with them.

Guillermo, Thank you for your support.

Long time ago I learned that some people just don't get why anyone would buy one of these. That is fine and it has ceased to bother me. The number of times I've been told I could get a G20 cheaper, it's just a fancy EAA Witness, history of the magazines, etc. by those that don't have a clue is beginning to become funny. It appeals to such a specialized market, it is hard for some to get outside their own box. This post is definitely not for them, it's for those that have money down for one, or a genuine interest in the firearm.

DPris, when the folks at Vltor customer service, and their supervisors don't even have a clue what is going, but know they are not working on them is more telling to me than anything.

Wait, you paid for 2 unproven remakes?!
Yeah, and I once paid in full for a new body style Corvette months before it left the factory, so what???

We are back from the SHOT Show, and just wanted to update a few things that some may have missed:

1. The new Vltor Bren Ten is in production and being marked “Bren Ten”.
2. The first year of production has been sold for distribution.
????
#14-(Feb '10)Ummm... Well we can't use the Gunsite logo, no guns for you yet...
#15-(June '10)Sorry, we are just to busy to make any of these things yet... and there is this little problem we have run into, while we were NOT making you any of these guns, but all is well and these things are great, you just can't have one yet...
#16-(June '10-still)
I do want to say that from the start, we have never taken any down payments or reserved a serial number – we have not even taken a purchase order from the distributor yet
But? but? but? six month ago you said ALL of the first year production was ALREADY sold????

And I bought a Jeep JK Wrangler and waited 8 months for delivery, but at least I was pretty sure they were being made. There were WORKING Jeeps sold before I bought one, Jeep was actually making them when I bought one, and they actually did make one for me after I bought one, all things Jeeps and Corvetts do NOT have in common with the Bren Ten.

dear fortis enthusiast,
due to the overwhelming and positive response to the fortis pistol project, we would like to address some of the questions, comments and concerns that we received from the 2008 shot show.

... And are evaluating prototype design models now...

We are not yet ready to commit to a release date for the fortis… we have learned from others in the industry that announcing a release date this early most often leads to one of two things: The release date is missed, causing discouragement and anxiety in buyers, or the product becomes a “rush job” to meet the release date. We will avoid the old axiom that there is never time to do it right, but always time to do it over – and take the time to ensure that the fortis is done right the first time. With that said, we expect that the first release of the fortis will be around the end of the year.

2/2008! http://vltor.wordpress.com/2008/02/

I think I do 'get it.' I would love to have one, if someone was actually making and selling them I would be reserving my place in line, right after they proved that this time they actually work... and were really being made.

By Feb. of this year, when you put your money down, the remake of the D&D fiasco was playing like Sean Penn's "All the King's Men". And at least, with the movie, the original was good.

You see, we have seen the clues, and as bad as we feel for you, and as much as many of us would give our eye teeth to have a working Bren Ten, those clues clearly say to wait until the curse of D&D has been removed before we put our money down. The writing was on the wall, and some of us read it.

Acera,
At the first of this year, it was pretty much both companies pointing the finger at each other any time I'd ask about the guns.
VLTOR would say "We've turned everything over to Sporting Products, talk to them."
Sporting Products would then say "We don't have any guns yet", and give an approximate expected date. When that date passed, it was "We don't have any guns yet", along with a revised date.

Last one from Sporting Products, as mentioned, was that they had no guns, but the difference was that they no longer gave out a revised date, and said they had no idea when they would get any guns.

I'd say future uncertain, at best, but I don't know that I'd entirely give up.
Yet.

Denis

Denis, yes I have not given up yet either.

I feel that my money is extremely safe with Bass Pro Shops. There is no concern that I can get my money back at any time I want it. I also have no concern that if the gun ever gets delivered, and it is not up to par, I will get my money back right then also before acceptance. Now this does not make up for the fact that they have had the benefit of $3K+ for all this time, gaining interest in their bank account instead of mine.

Beginning to wonder if I will last until the SHOT show. I might make the trip this year and take the opportunity to put them on the spot.

yeti, you even miss my point. Read a lot of the posts, many can't understand why pay this price for that gun no matter the reason. Their wisdom is that they would not buy one even if you could go into wally world and buy one right now. Those are the people I am referring to.

This thread motivated me to call VLTOR.
I'm in line for a test sample, and decided it was time to ask them about status.
"It's in pre-production."
Best they could give me. Receptionist was very pleasant, but didn't have any other info. Initially referred me to Sporting Products. :)

Acera,
At SHOT 2010 nobody at the VLTOR booth would discuss the project, their president was the only one who could do so & in several trips past it he was only there once, in the middle of a crowd, so I didn't get a chance to talk to him.
Took several phone calls later to get through to him.

I'll drop in at SHOT 2011, but don't know how far it'll go. :)

Denis

I kinda think Cooper came to regret attaching his name to the D&D wagon.... :)
