I've had a lot of positive response to the first two challenges...
1) Post your targets - The 15 yard pistol challenge
2) Post Your Targets 2 - The Weak Hand Pistol Challenge.

So welcome to challenge #3
We've all heard that phrase "take a long walk off a short pier", well this challenge involves sending the bullet on a long trip from a short barrel.

1) Download the standard target and print it out. (Warning, PDF file)
Thanks as always to Mr. Thomas Haller for his wonderful targets!
2) Post the target at 50ft (16 yards).
3) Select a pistol with a barrel length of NO MORE than 3"
(Okay, if you have a Taurus Millennium Pro I'll allow the extra 1/4" length. My game, my rules :neener:)
3) Shoot at least six and no more than 10 rounds from the pistol of your choice (I'm trusting you to honestly report any fliers or misses). The pistol may be fired in any fashion (offhand, supported, benched) but you must write the style of shooting on the target you post so we know.

BONUS CHALLENGE:
Extra style points for shooting this challenge while standing in a one-handed and unsupported fashion.

This challenge may be shot at any speed you choose.

There it is. Have fun!

Ze

Additional note.
I'm going to the NRA-HQ range tonight after work to shoot this challenge with a Kel-Tec P-3AT and a Taurus Millennium Pro PT-140. If anyone wants to join me I'll be there starting at around 7:00pm and I'll be the red bearded guy wearing a blue ballcap that says "Hike Denali" on it.

Cheers
Ze

Just may see you up there then....guy I work with and I were planning on heading up there tonight. Got some Wolf 223 I want to try out.....

I'll keep an eye out for ya....

OK, my first entry.
Standing, one hand.
The Smith is a Model 10 I bought in 1960 for an off duty carry gun. No telling how many rounds have been fired in it, but it's still tight.

I only shot the first, right hand, target six times. Then I thought I'd see if I'd do any better left handed. The target was no worse than the right so I put an extra four bullets in it.

Aaaaaand M2Carbine gets 100 points for good shooting, 150 points for being the first to post, and an extra 500 super bonus points for accepting the additional (one handed) challenge!

Spankaveli... well looks like you found that excuse to go out and buy a snubbie :)

Sorry if I missed anyone at the range. By the time I got home it was raining so hard I couldn't hardly SEE the street so driving over to the NRA just seemed like a really bad idea.

My buddy and I went up there last night.....kept an eye out for ya Ze....figured the rain would keep ya away from an indoor range!

j/k when we left it was pouring something awful.

It was nice though. Paid for 1 hour and since no one was waiting we ended up shooting for almost 2 1/2 hours.....

Oh, and I didn't accept your challenge because I printed it out and left it on the desk....i'm memory challenged.

ZeSpectre -

These are GREAT challenges. Keep them coming. Unfortunately I only have one pistol with a barrel 3" or less. (Astra Constable .380). But I'll take the challenge as soon as I can.

Fun with snubbies

Starting out with TinyGnat's guns

Charter Arms snubby

Smith & Wesson 60-4

and my stuff

P-3AT

Millennium Pro (Right-weak-hand)

Millennium Pro (Left-strong-hand)
Mil_Pro50ft_left.gif

So apparently I need more practice with the guns that aren't mine, but I'm doing well with my CCW choices :D

O.K. I took my little Astra Constable to the range today. Here are the 3 targets that I shot (One 5 shot warm-up). Two handed. Strong hand only. Weak hand only. Boy-o-boy this little guy shoots high. :what:

I guess if I'm ever confronted by a bad guy with this gun I'll have to aim for his feet!

Still a very respectable bluto. Nicely done. Seriously, who ever intended these short barrels to be used at 50 freakin' feet?!? I'm impressed that we keep hitting the target at all :)

I created this challenge and it's given me a whole new level of respect for those guys who are
-really damned good- with really short barrels!

From my 2" Colt Detective Special using 158gr Speer LSWCHP on top of 4.5grs of W231, Winchester cases and primers. Had a nice 3" group going even if it was a bit high till I threw that one to the left.

Steve,
I had one of these and a Cobra circa 1974, with the same grips. It was excellent, the best snubs I ever had.
