I got a 340pd and am wanting to send it off to lighten up the trigger. Anyone have a ballpark idea of what that SHOULD cost???

I have a new Cobra 9MM Derringer that had one of those BAD pulls you hear about. He put in a lighter trigger and hammer spring, polished the sears, trigger & hammer. Charged $30 ~ said the polishing took the majority of the labor ~ 5 Minutes time! I suppose it's according to what you've got, parts needed, and the complexity of the dis-assembly and re-assembly. I think he got the springs out of a "spring box" he had on hand and replaced my springs for them. I was happy, going from a 27# to an 8# pull and it still goes bang every time! Reasonably accurate now on a paper plate at up to 10 yards.

That little fella you've got is light! Also, you might want to get a parts list and see if it has springs or not. Also check on how hard it is to take apart. There may be Wolff Springs available for it. Wolff sure helped the pull on our SP101!

I got quotes some months ago on a revolver and they were from $75 to $125. Best thing to do is call around.

Send it to the S&W Performance Center for the trigger job.
It might even work 100% reliably when you get it back.

Lightening the springs in a J-Frame can cause mis-fires if you over-do it.

Perhaps a better plan is to buy some snap-caps and spend long hours in front of the TV dry-firing it.

It will not only smooth up the trigger, but also strengthen your hand so you don't mind the trigger pull as much.

$125 is what I've seen from the guys who go through your whole action and remove as much friction as possible, also making sure every part is fitted right. That also includes a reduced power trigger return spring and mainspring if you want them.

If you have a current copy of Brownells

the last blue page has ball park numbers, low/high, on what they are finding is the going rate for smiths they have talked to/polled.
