Great pics

There are wonderful photographers in this group. OK so what's the trick on lighting, exposure, etc? We have a Canon PowerShot SX10 IS that has multiple "dial" settings like auto, potrait, landscape and the like. Iso settings for reduction of shake etc. Then there is that lighting issue and glare. Seems every shot I take I'm getting some kind of glare off the weapon :banghead:, whether it's blued or stainless. Help an old guy out fellas?

I'm no pro, but the best advice I can give you for a decent picture is to take your pictures outdoors on a cloudy day. If your getting glare, angle the firearm slightly in a direction that you don't see the glare.
Make sure you use a tripod. Take a lot of pictures using different angles, and use different setting on the camera, and see what works best for you.
When I take photos of a firearm, I'll shoot about 50 pictures of it. Usually I'll end up with about 5 pictures that I like. I'll put those 5, or so pictures in a different folder to seperate them from the rest.
Also very important is a suitable background. There is nothing worse than seeing a photograph of a gun, and seeing the photographers nasty toes in the picture!

Still fighting the camera :banghead:

Our moderator may recognize this one. He sold it to me six years ago after doing the lug cut down and other mods. I just got it back from S&W today after a reblue, and they did a fantastic job of reworking the lug and underside of the barrel, and with the reblue of the entire gun.

I'll get my friend with photography skills and equipment to shoot some decent shots soon, but I was so excited about the way it turned out I had to shoot a quick picture with my BlackBerry.
