got this today at one of my local gun stores. price was $519 plus tax. only one 12 round mag, nothing else. seems to have been a police gun as the magazine says law enforcement only. variant 7 pistol, DAO, no lever. did not shoot it yet. holster wear evident but nothing too bad. the frame has your usual amount of wear but again, nothing obviously bad.

was this deal poor, OK, good?

the "leo only" mag has nothing to do with it being a law enforcement gun. many companies stamp all their mags with a capacity greater than 10 "leo only" so they can sell them in god awful places like California where they are prohibited to mere citizens.

I would have passed on the gun because of the trigger group, however the price is pretty good. The USP is a great gun...enjoy and be safe.

As amd pointed-out... mags on these babies can be expensive, so your price with ONE mag is about right.
LEO turn-ins with TWO mags are usually in the $525-575 range... so if your HK is in good condition, your price is 'OK.'
H&Ks are very reliable, well-made pistols... Had a 9mm Compact and it was flawless!!
Forget what you paid for the gun and just shoot-the-hell-out-of-it and enjoy!

Unless you like DAO (DA is not HK's strong point), it just an OK deal.
Converting to SA/DA will be fairly expensive as the hammer and several other parts have to be replaced, not just a detent plate.
OTOH, great gun.

Almost any HK handgun for under $600 is a pretty good deal unless it's really beat up. Yours looks to be in decent condition so I'd say you did fairly well on that purchase.

I think you did great . Around here and mostly everywhere people sell them for around what they cost new which is just stupid ! I think that a H&K in that shape for the price is great . H&K's are really over-priced in my opinion anyways.
So I think you did excellent !

That reminds me of a time way back when used Toyotas sold for almost as much as new ones... crazy world.

I think you did good. The USP pistols are bullet proof and very sturdy. If it's a DAO trigger, then it has the HK LEM trigger. They generally come in 3 different pull weights. I use the HK light LEM trigger on my 3 HK's. Great pistol. Enjoy it.

Took the gun to the range. The DAO LEM trigger job unfortunately sucks big time. Really hard to shoot this gun accurately, at least for me, without super trigger control. I am tempted to take it back and trade up to another used HK they had, a like new USP tactical with SA/DA....

Or a new Glock.......My HK's are all long gone. HK USP .45 is gone and will be replaced with the 21SF I ordered last week.

I feel HKs are overpriced compared to Glocks or M&Ps and mags are half the price.

Also have a Glock 30SF. To be honest, the only guns in my collection where I can truthfully say they are amazingly accurate are my CZ 75B, CZ SP01 Tactical.

If it were me, I would get the USP TACTICAL. It has a very good trigger for an HK, adjustable sights, C&L capability , threaded barrel if you want a can and still an HK. Very accurate, reliable, easy to maintain, easy to shoot well if your hands are not on the smallish side. Get it and dump the one you have. You won't look back, imho.

It was an "OK deal". That is my opinion. What's YOURS?

Does it fit your hand? Can you hit your target with it? Do you like .45acp? Like its looks? Didn't have to take a second mortgage to buy it? Would you recommend it to a friend?

If so, it's a SUPER deal!

Hey, are you psychic? Did exactly that and traded it in for a like new USP tactical. only 350 rounds through it. previous owner kept a log. cost me 400 more bucks but i am much happier (final opinion after i go to the range). came with 2 mags, paperwork, O rings, cami case, etc. Trigger is variant 1, MUCH better than the LEM DAO. Is the HK overpriced? Maybe so. But so is a Mercedes and a lot of other stuff.

PS The little white specks on the picture are lint from the wipe down.
