Looking for a source to buy 3 dozen like new cans.
Prefer .50 cal cans.

Most cheap crap in magazines are dented, rusted. Not interested in those.

Military changed the way you buy and have to buy a whole trailer load at once. Too many.

Have you tried pawn shops? That's the best way, outside of gun shows, where you can see them before buying. I've had mixed results buying through mail order.

Try these folks. They have a ton of ammo cans. Most are in decent shape. I don't remember seeing any that were rusty or badly dented. You may be able to order from them. It's where I go if I need ammo cans, MRE's, or green socks. :D

I purchased a like new .50 cal ammo box from Cheaper Than Dirt. Plus, a set of three plastic stacking trays with different sized compartments that fit inside. It was all pretty inexpensive.

I get my cans and cases from Northern Hydraulics. If they have a store in your area, you can visually inspect the cans to make sure they fit your needs. Good prices, too.

Its really unfortunate that that company is in Kommieofrnia, and not across the border in Nevada. I dont order anything from California, New York, New Jersey, or any of the other People's Republiks if I can help it. Why support the enemy with your money? And they will get your money, thru taxes on the business.

I have purchased many ammo cans from CTD in the past and have received ones in good to very good condition. Unfortunately my luck ran out on the last order, they were absolute junk! Will try a new supplier for the next order.

So G1FAL, what you're saying is you'd like to see the good folks who run companies in CA go out of business, lose their homes and put their kids on the street? Gee, thanks. :fire:

And the simple solution is....move out of California.

If its any consolation to you, I also try to avoid buying things made in China. Guess maybe I should feel sorry for some Chinese slave-laborer who wont get his two fish heads and handful of rice this week?

Seems you have looked at the military buy route already.

However, you may still want to look at the DRMO website or check a local DRMO in person. They used to sell them one at at a time at the DRMO store or by the pallet at auction.

Not all the DRMO's do business the same way I have found so if you can check/call a few it may be worth your time.

May be worth a shot.

Another thing to consider is get together with some other guys and buy a whole trailerload at once and split them amongst ya. Even if it means buying way more than you want. You can never have too many, and you can sell of the excess anyway.

local gunshow seller had a "value added" approach. he did a camo
job on some of the larger ammo cans. probably to cover up rust
and abuse and dents. but it worked, I took one home.

Gun shows are the best bet. As jthuang mentioned, you can inspect them.

I probably drive the vendor (usually the same one) crazy by unstacking his ammo cans, picking the best ones, and then stacking them back. But I don't take home no rusty cans!

You can usually pick up flat olive drab spray paint at the Army/Navy store if you happen to get one with a little rust.
