Sig 1911

I haven't shot one but the Sig 1911 C3 that I handled felt awesome in my hand and the trigger was crisp. I just happened to get a hold of one after I bought a Remington 1911 R1 and proceeded to fix its trigger and get night sights installed.

I think you will find the fit and finish of the Sig 1911 better than the Springfield GI. You will also get better sights.

The Sig 1911 will also have an external extractor that many 1911 purists bemoan. However, Sig's external extractor (like S&W's) has a good reputation and seems to work well.

The Sig 1911 will also have a firing pin safety like the Colt Series 80. Of the 1911 firing pin safety designs, the Series 80 is the longest in production and the most reliable.

To me, the biggest down side to the Sig 1911 is the unique "Sig-like" slide. The profile is such that it may not fit in a well made 1911 holster not specifically made for the Sig. On the good side, the Sig 1911 has been out long enough that most holster makers have a mold for it and can make you a holster to fit your Sig.

On the whole, I think the Sig 1911 is a pretty good pistol priced appropriately for what you are getting.

I have had one for a few years now and once it was broken in (200 rounds or so) it's been completely reliable and super accurate.

Of the two the Sig 1911 is a better gun. I had a Gen 1 GSR and it was a good pistol. Went back to Sig once for an extractor issue. It was a tact driver. Sometimes I which I still had it but sold it to pay for my Les Baer.

My daily CCW is a SIG RCS 1911, I have just over 1500 rounds tested in it, not any malfunctions. My only complaint is they only make their 1911s in .45ACP, I have a thing for 9mm 1911s. Only reason I would get a P250 would be price, the SIG 1911 is at least twice as costly, but worth it. Good trigger, finish, sights and a reliable, accurate shooter in my experience.

Not a fan of the Sig 1911's trigger/hammer in being that they're not skeletonized, which I expect from a gun that's going to be roughly $750 or so.

The skeletonized hammer and trigger have become so common that many custom 1911 builds have gone back to solid parts to be different. Solid or skeletonized can both be either high or low quality, so that's not a big issue. The chunky slide and external extractor are the only nits I can pick. I'd still take a SIG 1911 over a P250 any day.

he does nice work. the golf ball cuts made me think it was rogers, although it looks a little different. the ball cuts are smaller.

excellent grip safety fitting. the seam is barely noticeable.

I just suggested the Sig to someone in another thread.

I have the Limited Edition C3 and a Tacops Commander and both have been excellent. If there's another one to come out that I want down the road I'd buy it without hesitation.
