I purchased a Vortex today. Odd how you can do all kinds of research, then go to the store and make a somewhat ramdom purchase. I'm sure I'm the only guy on here that's done that :what:

So, now that I have it, and won't be able to shoot it for a few weeks (going on the road), can anybody give me some confidence that it was a good idea?

It's seems awesome. Thanks.

about a year back alot of people got excited because of all the features it had with a sub 1000 price tag (namely mil/mil or moa/moa and illuminated FFP reticles). There are other manufacturers getting in on the action now though.

I have 3 vortex optics products and the quality of the glass is tiered. No matter what you pay though you are getting a lot for your money, with one of the best warranties and customer service in the business.

I have the less expensive Viper 6-20x 44mm and think it's a great value for the money. Glass is quality and the warranty/customer service is great. I've never had to replace the scope, but my scope rings cracked one day and I had a new set in the mail immediately. Friendly people over the phone and via email communication. I think you did fine.

It was a great idea - the Viper PST line is awesome, I have the 1-4x for 3 gunning use. Glass is better than the more expensive Trijicon TR24 it replaced, and the reticle and turrets are eminently usable for any scenario, from short range hosing through long range shots. For $500 one of the best on the market.

As for Vortex's warranty and customer service - you will not find better, period.

I've had the Viper PST 2.5-10x44 EBR-1 MRAD for about 4 months now on my SPR, and I'm extremely impressed with it.

Prior to the PST, I have had a lot experience with Leupolds, to include the Mark4. I tend to use the Mark4 as a "control" and base my observations of an optic off of how they compare to the Mark4s. I basically won't buy anything below a Mark4 for optical quality for a tactical scope, but having said that, I also won't buy a Mark4 because I think they're way too overpriced. I'm also a MIL/MIL only kind of guy.

Basically, what the PST does best is eat the breakfast off of Leupold's plate. You have an optic that has better features (mil/mil w/ illumination), better optics (more clarity, better color fidelity, and better light transmission), a Zero Stop (Leupolds don't), and a solid construction (if you take apart the turrets you can tell they're beefed up) that costs about 1/2 what a Leupold Mark4 costs. I have been extremely impressed with my PST, and I have to say that it basically is everything it's been hyped up to be. The scope is very repeatable, the adjustments are accurate, and so far, it's been pretty durable and rugged. I haven't really pounded on it much, but given what I've seen of the optic, and the fact that there have been very few instances so far of PSTs going down (significantly lower than any other Vortex model to be sure), I have to say that it is among the best optics you can buy for the money. The other being the Weaver Tacticals and SWFA SS scopes.

You have "badass glass"!

Seriously, When you factor in construction, optical quality, reticle design, price, warranty and CS the Vortex Viper PST series is one of the great bargains in the optics world. It's no wonder that so many of the more popular models have been back-ordered for months.

I received my Viper PST 4-16 X 50 FFP Milrad scope Friday. I'm still in the process of mounting it (fathers day is in the way:rolleyes:) but from an initial inspection it compares very favorably for the price with my Nightforce NXS 2.5-10 X 32.

I got mine from Scott at Liberty Optics: http://www.libertyoptics.com/

He has a great rep for CS and good prices AND there is a considerable di$$count if you are a member of Snipers Hide http://www.snipershide.com/.

I now have a very lonely EOTech 512 thanks to this awesome scope.

Great, feature packed optic, that will not break the bank. Sitting atop my Spikes Middy as we speak and I could not be happier with it.

Had a friend just purchase one (2.5x10) and he's extremely pleased for the price.

Feature packed is right...

After a couple of months with the first Vortex I ever purchased I have not purchased any kind of optic unless it had Vortex stamped on it someplace. When you get used to the functionality of your new scope you will realise they had a better idea and product than many other brands that cost much more; well my experience anyway!

my viper has been very nice, and vortex CS has been super. I believe they are eagle optics which has been around a while and has a decent rep.

You didn't do badly. The PST glass is above average and the scope has a lot of features. I don't think that there is much that can compete with it, in its price range.

I got a 6-24X to put on top of a .308 that I had coming. I just wasn't as wild about it as I was hoping I would be. Since I've had my scope, I've had to send it in twice. Although I was pretty PO'd about that, I do have to admit that their customer service is top notch.

I decided to stick with Nightforce for the centerfire stuff and put the PST on top of my match rimfire rifle.

Just shoot with it and enjoy it.

Wow Tony you got one!!! Then it bit you!!?? Sorry man you are probably the only one in the history of the world to have problems! Ok OK maybe a slight exaggeration...Glad the CS was good.

Sky, the PST was a line of scopes that was greatly anticipated by a bunch of people that I know and shoot with. Right now, I can think of three, besides myself, that had problems with their PSTs.

I guess you could say that it bit me. When I first got it, I had to use almost all of the elevation adjustment to get it zeroed and didn't have enough left to dial up for 600 yards. There were also a couple of other minor issues too, so I sent it in. They got and said that nothing was wrong with it, but that they would add an extra 10 minutes of elevation and the expense of down adjustment. When I got it back, it seemed like it was the way it should be. Still, I didn't feel right about the scope, so I put it on top of my rimfire rifle. Within the first 500 rounds or so of shooting rimfire, I got a spec on the inside of one of the lenses and shortly thereafter, the reticle canted on me.

At this point, I just don't trust the scope to do anything but range duty.

Tony I don't blame you one bit.

It hurts my feelings when I hear bad things about something that I have had good luck with or paid money for..

Kinda like a date your best friend says is ugly!! Then you talk about what great personality etc etc!!

What really bothers me is the fleck/speck!!
