I've got a Mossberg 930SPX that I bought a few years back and I recently noticed the front sight is canted. After some research apparently this was a problem with the early models. I called Mossberg and they said I would have to ship the entire firearm to them so they could make a decision on it, because I waited so long to report the issue. I know I should have looked at the gun, I fired it probably 10 times then put it back in it's box for a few years. Anyway I'm wondering how I should handle this, is it worth sending the gun into Mossberg, and will they take care of the issue or am I screwed for waiting so long to notice and correct the issue? I've never had to service a firearm under warranty so this is a new experience.

If you can hit good with the gun I wouldn't worry about it, it can't be too bad if you didn't notice it when you shot it when new. It's gotta be less expensive to have a local Smith take care of it if it bothers you. I'm thinking that waiting so long will work against you, but I could be wrong.

Hitting with the gun isn't a problem, it's more or less just one of those things that once you notice it, it bothers you like a splinter you can't quite get out. Would a decent gunsmith be able to correct the issue without causing too much cosmetic damage?

Call Mossberg on the phone and thell them you just want them to replace the barrel, when they tell you to send the whole gun back again, ask to speak to a supervisor, keep going up the "food chain" until you get someone that will help you out. Once you get someone, write down their name and contact them for status updates...

Mossberg "farms out" their warranty work to Maverick Arms in Texas....

Be polite, but be persistant... the squeeky wheel gets the grease...
