Picked this 67 T up last fall from Smoking/Jet/Bud's Gun shop which is about 45 minutes away from me. They had 4 rough looking Hi Powers that I at first thought was an Israeli import. Oddly, none of the 4 had an import or Israeli marking. Service counter guy didn't know where they came from. Internals were in great shape, just paint was badly scratched up. $400 and I was on my way.

Removed the paint and did a cold blue with Oxpho creme, just to clean it up a little. Put the left half of a stock mk III safety on it––my preference over the cylinder and slide extended. Shot it quite a bit and determined it was definitely a keeper. Removed the mag safety, even though the trigger pull was already pretty good with what seemed like a light mainspring.

It looks better in these pics than it should.

Sent it in last Monday to Novak's to get some work done to it. Got it back today. Had them put a tritium front, white dot rear, sight it in at 15 yards, bead blast and apply a matte blue. icon_smile_tongue.gif

It looks better in person than in the pics. Can't wait to start wearing the finish out again.

Novak's couldn't have been quicker or been more professional. I'm tempted to get an Izzy and have the full treatment done to it.

Very nice, if I'm not mistaken that is a T Series. You got one heck of a deal.

Very nice looking BHP. Quick service from Novak's, too. Congratulations on what is a fine looking pistol! Best,
JD

I've kind of been itching for a BHP. This thread isn't helping. ;)

Looks nice. I am curious about your sight setup though. Usually most people either go with a tritium dot up front and a plain black rear, or tritium all the way around. What made you decide to do white dots rear? Have you shot that setup before? Like it?

That looks smashing! I've got an Israeli Hipower that looks like 5 miles of bad road.
Maybe a refinish and new sights is in it's future.

That is a curious sight set-up, but having thought about it for a few minutes, I think I can see the value in it.

If the goal is what I would think it might be, a nice alternative would be rear tritium made to "glow" about one-third as brightly as the front.

They received my 1911 Tuesday morning for sight install and shoot to sight in. I got it back at noon today (Friday). That's pretty darn quick.

Fiber optic front and rear. I really like the construction of both sights, especially the front.

I hope you don't mind me borrowing this thread to share my Novak's ( Novak ) experience. I e-mailed them twice, talked to somebody in the sights department, and then finally sent the handgun in. It was all perfect. Their service and product is simply superior.

This with a Wilson Combat 10mm.

That is a very nice looking BHP you have there. Let us know how it shoots with the new sight setup.

Although the 10-8 u notch is in vogue now, I run Novak's or Champion clones on all mine with the white dot. If I don't like the rear white, I can always blacken them.

Well, I guess I'm not in vogue either, I run Novaks and Champions as well, but all of mine are either plain black/FO combo for range use, or tritium front and rear for carry and HD. I was just wondering if I was missing out on something with the white dot rear, or if it was just a personal preference.

Very nice custom work done on your T series. I especially like the Novak sights you had installed. Enjoy and thanks for sharing.

This a very professional looking Novak Hi-Power. Super! Wayne and company do things right with the Hi-Power. I have a 1967 T (serial# T183XXX) that Novaks completed a trigger job, reliablity package and installed C&S strong side safety. Somewhere down the road I'll do MKII Novak Low Mount sights. Your pistol T324XXX is a 1970/71. Again nice pistol!

Love it! The BHP, especially cutomized ones like that are among the best pistols to own, shoot, and carry.

Very nice sir.

Any problems with those aftermarket grip panels "squirming" on the gun?

Nope. They are Navidrex from Brownell's btw.

THanks! I disremembered which year it was. Funny thing is I had a C series that was older.

What a beauty. My MkIII Hi-Power is stock, but will be making a trip to Novaks soon for some work.

Shooting my HP is so pleasant compared to many pistols I've tried over the years... The balance and accuracy are really something. I've been in love with Hi-Powers since I shot one belonging to a family friend 30 years ago and finally got my own last year. My favorite pistol.

I had to "bed" the Navidrex grips on my BHP to keep them from squirming.
Took a good bit of time, and fitting-work, but I like the result.

Apply "bedding compound" (JB Weld) to the areas noted, and file to fit.
This photo represents about 500% of the amount of bedding material that you will end up with
once the "squirm" is eliminated.
