case lube spray- which brand?

Cases get stuck for only one reason; the lube is poorly applied. ALL commercial case lubes work fine IF we follow the directions. And that includes the sprays; seems a lot of people fail to use One-Shot correctly.

If you gonna mix alcohol and lanolin use denatured alcohol, it's found in paint thinner departments. Isoprolyl is "rubbing alcohol" and has a high percentage of water and aromatic oils in it.

I use Hornady One Shot as well. I had 1 stuck case, but that was due to me not properly lubing the cases. I used to do it in trays, but noticed that the lower part of the case would not get any lube. Now I just throw them into a box and spray them down. Not a single issue since.

One shot with the cases sitting in a reloading block. Applied liberally at a 45 degree angle to the cases. Thousands of .233 resized with no issue.

Keep your head low and your powder dry.

Sitting cases mouth up in a loading block is the best way to shield and prevent spray lubes from getting on the lower, thicker part of the cases and that's what needs lube most.

Always worked for me.
Of course now that I've said something.... :)

I have been using Dillon spray lube for 30-06, 223, and 7.62x39. As other have said, if you let the lube sit for a few minutes and dry then you will have no problem. If you spray it then immediatly try to resize it will get stuck most of the time In my experience. One thing I do like about the spray lube is that it doesn't seem to get alot of gunk build up in the decapping die like I got using the Lyman lube pad or Lee lube.

Sounds like you're been laying your pad lubes on much too thick.

I'm using one shot as well. Never had an issue with my .308 brass... my .30-06 brass needs a little more lubing or a better profiled expander. That'll be on order Monday.

I have found over the years that all spray lubes are about the same.

With the exception of One Shot, I agree.

Spray lubes work well on small cases such as 5.56. I use a plastic bag. Spray the bag, add brass spray again and shake. For larger brass, nothing is slicker than Imperial.

The only stuck case I've ever had was NOT FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS, on the Hornady One Shot can. Ranger335v pegged it!

You have to let the One Shot dry to the touch, and as previous posts have stated you need to spray the base also.

I do like to put mine in a reloading block first 'cause that lets you lube the inside of the necks so the expander ball doesn't drag, but then I place 'em on an old baking tray spray again the shake the tray so the cases roll together and spread the lube evenly. Let them dry to the touch and have at it!

If I full size long, rifle cases I go with Imperial wax.

On another thread in a post by fellow member kelbro, he came up with an alterntive, Kiwi netural shoe polish. Guess what? I't smells and feels just like sizing wax and you get more and costs less per oz.

Others have used alcohol and lanolin. If you can't put your paws on lanolin, use Lee's lube mixed about 1:4 with alcohol. I use 99% isopropyl alcohol (aka rubbing alcohol). Get one of those oil sprayers that cooking shops sell. Fill it halfway with the lube/alcohol mixture, pump it up and you've just made your own aerosol case lube. It will settle over time, but a few shakes takes care of that.

This works for most cases, but for heavy work or forming I use Rooster Red or Imperial.

so i made up some lanolin and alcohol mix last night. worked like a charm as far as lubing bunches of cases at one time. i just put my cases in a ziploc bag and sprayed 'em a few times, then i shook 'em around a bit and they were all coated uniformly. I didn't have any problems resizing, however, it seems that my powder likes to stick to the sides of the case a bit when charging through my lee auto double disc set up. Not sure if this is a problem with my charging set up, or if i got too much lube on the cases or what. it looks like i'm leaking powder out somehow. i took it apart and had powder stuck inside of the rifle charging die, so i'm leaning towards too much lube. i cleaned it up and started over again and it seemed to be a little bit better but, the powder spillage is not completely gone. what's weird is it'll do like 10 cases or so and not have any problems, then i'll charge one and it'll come out covered in h4895. anyhow, it worked much better than i expected..........thanks again guys, hvychev77

spray lubes like one shoot are great for light sizing dutys. it is quick and easy and tumbles off real fast. But when sizing rounds that take a bit more efford ive seen it fail miserably. for those dutys i like something like anyhydrous lanolin or imperail sizing wax or even lee sizing lube.

i haven't had any stuck cases since i used the lanolin mixture. My previous post, i was speaking of the powder sticking to the case somewhat. I'm not sure what's going on with it but, i can charge 10 cases or so and then i'll charge one that's just covered with powder. I don't know if it's me or if something is set up wrong. I've made some adjustments, what's funny about it is that it doesn't do it on a case that i haven't put lube on. I can charge and charge and charge and it doesn't stick to the non-lubed case for some reason........
