I don't really plink much with anything other than 22 LR and pistols. Rifles really aren't my thing. I've had the gun 12 or so years and I think I've put maybe 20 rounds through it. I just don't know what it's good for. They're not the most accurate things. The country I hunt in, I'm better served with a 30-30 or a 45-70 as a brush or truck gun.

I'm honestly thinking about selling/trading it to buy another pistol. It's in mint condition, stainless ranch edition.

They are a good option for those in states that don't allow non-neutered ARs.

Much in the same way the SKS is excellent to have in states that don't allow non-neutered AKs (though they are excellent for many other purposes as well).

If it doesn't float yer boat, sell/trade it for something that does, IMO. Me, I dig mine. I like the fact that it isn't an AR. I like the aesthetic connection to the M14 and the functional connection to the M1 Carbine. I like the way it sounds and shoots and functions. I like the wood stock.

If you don't, more power to you. :) Trade it for something that you like better.

Put a 22lr conversion kit in it and shoot the liven Piss out of it. Mine has been doing this for some time. Don't even know where the 223 parts are at the moment. I know I put them in an ammo box in the safe but have not looked for them in years.

Home/estate defense, varmint hunting to 150 yards or so, plinking, fun. Basically anything you can do with an AR15 you can do with a Mini 14, just not at quite as long a range. I love mine. It is uberreliable and more accurate than people seem to think.

like the rest of these fella's said, if it isn't doing you any good, and you don't really like it, then swap it! i don't know what the laws are about firearms transfers where you are at, but here all you have to do on a long gun is get a bill of sale and you're good to go.

I'm sure there are lots of folks out there who would love to have one, personally I'd rather have something with a little more oomph like a mini-30, but that's just me, I like larger diameter projectiles. .223 will get the job done

I'd be willing to bet you could trade that for just about anything you wanted in the same price range...

I bought the mini 30 for a truck/camp gun instead of the mini 14 because where I hunt and play the 7.62 is more useful than the .223. It is not a tack driver by any stretch of the imagination but is pop can accurate to 100yds or so.
The stainless and plastic makes it a great truck gun since it dont get any real maintenence or much lube. So far it has been reliable with any quality ammo but will have some issues with Wolf so taking advantage of inexpensive is out.
If you have no use for anything in your collection and are not enjoying it by all means get rid of it and get something you will enjoy. Life is to short for wasting time on things that dont make you happy.

I would like to have one. I have 3 ARs and other rifles, but i like the looks of the mini. I wish they had a heavy barrel to the muzzle. Maybe in 6.8spc.

But they are to expensive, considering Aks and ARs are so cheap now.

What would be a good asking price for me to start at? What about trade in estimates?

It's 12 years old, stainless, ranch rifle edition with a black synthetic stock. It literally has not been shot more than 30 times. I still have the original box for it somewhere if that matters, lol.

There are no blemishes on it anywhere.

They are a good all around ranch rifle. There are plenty of preban magazines in .223, and can get a foldable stock to through in the back of the truck. Not the most accurate system but plenty for many uses. Reliability is very good.
You will find many threads talking about this and also going nuts with folks criticizing each other. the same old broken record that leads nowhere.
If you like them go for them. Bullets come out the barrel and they can be a lot of fun.

whalerman: there might be a flooded market for ARs because about a dozen companies were building them soon after the '08 election. I don't know about AK "clones".

Let's remember how many people panicked at the scalpers' rumours after the election, jumped in their cars and bought an AK "clone", AR etc.

The gun/ammo scalpers (i.e., >50,000 rds. of 7.62x39 later dumped on "GB" by just one nervous seller, at one time), and regular sellers did not want to admit (if they even understood...) that the fresh "political capital" was being saved for the larger bills in Congress, which had nothing to do with guns.

Gdbyrd: My Mini 14 was sold only to more quickly buy a gun which hasn't been produced since the 1940s.
The older Minis have really thick post sights, and some WW2 (battle) rifles have tiny apertures with thin posts.

The Russians are building an AK47 factory in Venezuela---
if you wait for a while maybe they will give you a good price on one--
but I would not hold my breath.

Well, until I can afford another upper for my AR, mine has become my nighttime coyote rifle:

I shortened the tube to 14.6" and welded a flash hider on to keep it legal; Lobbing the barrel improved accuracy significantly, on the order of almost an inch in average group size, bringing it down to ~2 MOA, which is acceptable for 'yotes to a couple hundred yards.

The scope is an ATN Mk 390 gen I+ 4x NVRS

I owned a Mini 30 for a good number of years. Sold it for more than I paid for it. I told the guy who bought it that it was the least accurate rifle I ever shot. He didn't care, just wanted it. I was happy to see the piece of junk go down the road.

I happy with my Mini-30

Most of you folks must be target shooters & not deer hunters.
You don't have to have a gun that puts all the rounds in the same hole at 500 yards to go deer hunting.
I know some of you think you do.-:D:D:D

It's accurate enough and it is a good toss around gun. Personally my deer rifle shoots 1/2 groups at 100 yards with factory ammo. Anything less..would be uncivilized. Lol. I have a gen 2 night vision scope. Used it on the ar, it's soooo much fun.

So anyone have any pricing suggestions?
