Hey guys. Have a standard blued NM Blackhawk in 41mag with a 4-5/8" barrel. I intend on replacing the factory plastic grips with wood. So far I have found a few I like, but am not well versed on brands.

I have been looking at the Badger and Excaliber oversized grips with finger grooves in Walnut, Rosewood, Silver Black finishes.

Which ones does everyone think would look the best on the blued gun? Other recommendations?

Blackhawk Grips

Opinions on grip brand, material & configuration are as subjective as leggy redheads vs. buxom blondes! So, I much prefer plow-handle grips on the RBH over finger-groove. To me, an SA revolver is supposed to make that slight upward slide in my grip to more easily facilitate the follow-up hammer cock.

Check out gripmaker.com, if you don't mind finish fitting your own grips, and they have grips to fit the internal hammer spring lock on the newer Blackhawks.

These two also came from Private Schultz....great guy, great grips, great price

I'm very pleased with the American Holly grips I got from Private Schultz. They look and feel great on my Ruger .44 Special Blackhawk Flattop. Another way to go might be Tru Ivory stocks from Bar-S Grips. Fit and finish are outstanding and I think they look fine on blued guns as well as nickel plated or polished stainless steel guns.

Lawdawg, been shooting cowboy about 7 years. We can offer choices I guess. This is a big personal preference. And some chioces would be influenced by your category.

Personally, I like 'em all. Except the finger grooves. Then again, they would be illegal in cowboy.

RCMODEL, please post your Ruger with the "paper" grips. I think they are one of the most attactive grips I have seen. I have Eagle gunfighter grips (walnut) on my 3 screws. The gunfighter grips are thin. I have tried a bunch but have found the slimmer the better.
