What is the Best 10 Shot Group You Have Ever Witnessed?

Best I have seen in person- just over 4.5" at 1,000 yds.
Best I have made- .8 at 200yds

Best one I've ever seen was a guy at my club shooting a T/C Contender in .41 magazine with a 14" barrel. Shot off bags at a bit over 100yds. Group was one ragged hole a shade smaller than a quarter. The guy is an amazing marksman.

It was my 100-6x that I shot at 200 yards in a sitting rapid string at the last high power match I shot. I did shoot 10 out of my scoped Ruger MKII at 25 yards off of a rest that would have been covered by a quarter, but that wasn't as hard as the 100-6x.

I usually don't see 10 shot groups except in competition. Most of the guys I shoot with will limit groups to 3 or 5 because we are trying to develop loads. Anything over 7 is statistically irrelavent and 3 or 5 usually gives you a pretty good idea if your load is worth anything.

Personal best? Maybe the 300-yd prone group I once fired could be covered by a 3x5" note card. Easily cleaned that one (100 with some). Though I have a picture somewhere of a 200-rapid clean that's a 100-6x or so, not as tight.

Witnessed? Well, I was shooting near SSgt. Leigh Jenks back in September and I know he fired a 200-14x from 600-yards prone. That's all 20 shots easily inside 12". (He won with a 495 and a bunch as I recall.)

A long while back, the Sierra Bullet Company had an award style promotion offered to anyone who could shoot a ten shot, under 1" group at 100 yards.
I did it and I still have the issued Award AND the target.
Took me a few tries but I did it.
Rifle?
A made in Belgium FN Mauser in .250-3000 Savage.
Why THAT rifle?
Cause it's the ONLY one I had at the time.
The bullet was a 75 grain Sierra that was a favorite of mine for PA woodchuck hunting.
Yep! I still have the rifle as it was a Christmas gift from my parents when I was 12 years old.

Don't see a lot of folks shooting 10 shot groups. Too many of us don't want to screw up our 3 and 5 shot group.

I have shot a sub 3" 5 shot group at 600 yards shooting my bone stock Cooper Model 22 in 6.5 Swede.

I am a legend in my own mind....

You mean like this? FrankenA/R. 16" barrel, Leupold 2x7, 100 yards from bags. Very calm day.

Or like this? Browning Medalist target pistol. A pretty good day for this old fart. 25 yards. 2" dots.

Back about thirty-five years ago, I had a heavy-barrel Ruger 77 in .220 Swift. All I did to it was install a Canjar single-set trigger. 3x9x40 Redfield.

I loaded the Sierra 52-grain HPBT and used 3031.

Five-shot 3/8 MOA groups were pretty much the standard. I shot a few ten-shot groups at a tad over 1/2 MOA.

Once I finished tweaking my Weatherby Mark V in .30-'06, I did do a couple of ten-shot groups for the heck of it. About 1-1/8 MOA. Five-shot groups were commonly about 3/4 MOA.

A few years ago I bought a Browning Buckmark with a heavy barrel and a 4X scope. While dialing in the scope at 25 yds shooting prone off of my rolled up jacket I put 10 shots into a hole that I could cover with a dime which is by far the best I ever shot. I had to make sure it was me when I finished. I still have the target posted above my reloading bench along side a gridded scope sighting target with the top right center target perfectly punched out with my Bushmaster AR at 100 yds. Sometimes you just feel lucky!

I was doing load development for my stock Savage 10 FPC. Unfortunately, I only loaded 5 rounds for each powder weight.....I as on my way to a nice 10 shot group but ran out of rounds getting there.

The best 10 shot group I have made was with my CZ 455 American in 22LR.
I set up a 3.5"x4" steel swinger at 270 yards and shot from my rolled up shirt.
I fired a few sighters and then pounded steel.

All 10 rounds hit that piece of steel and I was surprised I did it. I have not tried it since as that box was the last of that lot number and I have not had such a good lot since. BUT I do want to try it again this summer.

I am pretty proud of my daughter's 600 yard 10 shot group she fired prone with a 243 2 weeks ago. She doesnt shoot a whole lot but when she does she does well.


The black bull measures 4" so it's well under moa.




I do have a Sabre Defence AR that delivers 1/2 moa 10 groups consistantly.

That i ever witnessed, would be a close race between some of the F-class shooters I've shot alongside/pulled targets for when we still had local 600yrd prone matches, "200-seemingly ungodly X count"

As for personal best, let's just say that I wish to heaven I hadn't lost the 5 or so targets i measured, saved, and stuck up on my bedroom corkboard between '96-99! I've found everything ELSE that I remember being on that board when i took it down to move, but not my targets!!:banghead:

anyway, first firearm I ever bought for myself, was a Savage 110FP in .223. Once dad and I found the load(s) it liked, let's just say that within a year I stopped shooting paper at 100yrds because it was well Boring. on a calm day in under 10 shots (usually 6 or 7) there would be a hole in the target through which all subsequent shots were passing without noticeable effect. If i shot a 5 shot 100yrd group with that rifle that exceeded 1/2" I was to blame.

Good Lord do i miss that rifle (sold it to pay a medical bill)

dubbleA....you should be a proud dad....that is some fanatastic shooting for someone who doesn't shoot a lot.

All 10 of mine came from my Savage .17 HMR one semi-smooth hole, never seen anything like it before or since. I never would have beleved it had I not seen it with my own two eyes. It would only group like that with the 17gr TNTs nothing else would go sub MOA.

Over the years, I have accurized and helped to accurize rifles for myself and for others. I also worked up accurate loads for those rifles.

Nearly all the loads I worked up from anything .22 to .460 rifles were about 1/2" groups at 100 yards or less than 1/2". I would not stop until there was one, ragged hole.

When two rifles would not shoot those kind of groups, after 20 load variations, both those guns were sold. They were both .220 Swift with Leupold Vari-X-III scopes in 3-9x40 I believe.
