I'll be visiting my folks in Ft. Myers florida and was wondering if there are any outdoor shooting ranges nearby.

I was there 2 years ago and we went to an indoor range that had free gun rentals on a certain day of the week. It was fun but, I prefer to shoor outside.

Cecil Webb Management Area has an outdoor range. Pistol, rifle to 200 yds, shotgun, archery.

Located at exit 158 on I-75, go east. Just before you get to the small building on the right, there is a box on a post. get an envelope, put $6 in it, tear off the stub for your dashboard, seal the envelope and put it in the box. Continue driving east about 1/2 mile and the range is on the left. Outhouses are the only facility onsite.

I've only been using that range for a bit over a year now so I don't know what it used to be like. It is pretty nice though for an outdoor range. Weekends are busy as is several days before the start of a hunting season, everyone waits until the last minute to sight in their rifles.

Rapid fire and full auto is allowed I think the first Sunday and the last Thursday of each month.

Outdoor ranges near D.C.

Does anyone know of any outdoor ranges that are close to the D.C. area? I just got stationed up here and it seems these people dont like shooting very much.

I have never been to a public range, but I might visit the one near Ft Myers.

Can anyone give me a rough idea of what to expect? I guess I would need to bring targets. Are the target distances set or variable?
