Hey CZ rimfire owners...

awesome that majority of people here enjoy their quality/accurate cz rimfires:cool:

I think it would be frustrating to get a rifle like that with a crappy trigger. Is it bad, or just not very nice?

Are the fixes stuff you can do yourself, or would gunsmith fees needed to be factored in to the price of the rifle?

Went to the 50 yard range with a couple of colt action .22 rimfires last week

Those guys in Uhersky Brod know how to make and accurate rifle

Cz rimfire (( owner ))

My Son and I have a love affair with CZ rifles. And I know they walk on water and the sun rises and sets on them. We have have a modest collection of CZ`s both rimfire and centerfire rifles. We have 2 452 trainers with the blockey sights that are marked to 200 yds Make fun if you want but slide the sight up to 200 yds and see where you are hitting. Ours will break clay birds on the 200 yrd bearm with very little problems if I do my part. My Son also bought a HD barrel 543 with the set trigger it is great. CZ`s 22 mag and 17HMR are in a class by them selves we think, it is a joy to just hold them. Hunting with them is almost cheating and I know any thing that feels as good as they do while your carrying them must be sinful. But any body that doesn`t like a CZ rifle probablity won`t like a good looking red headed woman in her brith day suit that owns a liquor store. We have not had single problem with any of our CZ`S and we have a few and we have been shooting them for a few years now. Their CF rifles are just the same works of art in my humble opion. If you are in the market for a really geat shooting rifle, try a CZ , I can`t belive you won`t fall for them like my Son and I have. The CZ people in Kansas City are really fine people to deal with there phone is (( 913-321-1811 )). Best of luck to all of you. ken

My CZ shoots sub 1/8th inch at 50 yards a lot of the time and under a quarter inch almost every time. But my Savage is still more accurate.
Take that savage to some national bench rest competitions and show them a $300 savage will hold an agg of around .1. Until you do that I simply won't believe your savage shoots better than sub 1/8" or 1/4 MOA. And so I don't seemed biased, I don't think your CZ consistently shoots sub 1/8"-1/4" either. Let me ask what brand flags you use to read wind as it would take wind calls accurate down to a single mph or less to shoot consistent sub 1/8" groups.

As to the original post, I do own two rimfires and have had two of their centerfires. They work well and are fun but I wouldn't look past an old remington or Winchester as well. The CZs certainly feel better built than the current savage/marlin options but shoot about the same. I would spend $300-$400 on one but much past that and I'd be looking for a used anschutz 64 actioned rifle.

I have an American and a Ultra Lux. Both very accurate and well made rifles. I have several other .22lr's in other brands as well, but CZ's are very hard to beat. Quarter size groups at 50 yards with bulk Federal auto match and Winchester target ammo. Haven't tried expensive ammo yet.
I had to sand the stock a little on one side on the Lux and shot a few boxes to break it in before it really shot well.

cj74, this thread is about the cz not savage. why dont you start a new thread about your savage since you say its more accurate than the cz, that would be an interesting topic, if anybodys interested.

I have a couple of CZ rimfires and have fooled a pile of them. I have yet to see one that wasn't what I consider very accurate for an out of the box gun. The triggers are easy to tune on your own. I have never bought anyone's premade trigger kit. I generally just clip a couple of coils off the trigger spring to lighten it up. If there is any creep, I take care of it with a shim tube made out of items that I have on hand.

The triggers on mine were not bad out of the box. It is about making ok much better

I love my 452 Trainer. Mine has the Brooks trigger kit (ancestor of the Yodave) and Brno target sights. The trigger pull weight is right around 1 lb. with a tiny bit of take-up and no creep.

I use it for Sporterifle: standing offhand unsupported shooting at NRA A-32 50-ft. targets.

I have a lot of .22 rifles. The CZ is in the Top 3, along with an Izhmash Biathlon Basic and a Sako Finnfire. I use the Izhmash and the Sako for the scoped class, but my highest scores are with the CZ and the peeps. It's a very shootable rifle! :D

EDIT TO ADD: I did the trigger kit installation myself, and I'm no mechanical genius. It's pretty easy.

I've got a 452 Lux. It's more accurate than I am. If I could do it over again I would get the Varmint so I could mount a wider variety of optics on it. The finish on the bottom metal is a rust magnet.

I'm not absolutely set on getting one, but does anyone know who can beat Bud's prices on CZs?

I'd ask some local shops. Also, Whitakerguns is one of the better known sources for CZ's. Typically, after shipping and FFL charges they are as or more competitive than any local stores and they have a big selection. They also tend to have a few used options too. I've had my local store order me two CZ's and both came out with in a few bucks of any online dealer from an out the door price.

I like mine. I'm about to start restocking it for a more classic look and feel (and a real cheekpiece).

I've always wanted one of the .22 Hornet CZ's, but I can't think of one single use I'd have for one! :D

My FIL has a 452 Lux, I have a 452 American 16. Both are extremely accurate. I'd love to add a 452 FS. So yes, I'd buy another.

My wife has a CZ 452 in .17 HMR with a 3x10 Leupold. Minute of ground squirrel at 50 yards. Excellent rifle. Researched the options before we bought it. Best gun for the money, IMHO.

Well, I would have not bought my specific CZ452 FS, had I known. Yeah, I said it.

+ Great fit/finish, very smooth
+ very attractive.
+ good weight
- However, mine has 1st shot 'cold bore' fliers which happen after 60 sec of sitting on the firing line, and have been impossible to fix (tried floating the barrel, swapped end-caps, tried tons of ammo varieties, even did the fire-lapping). Other than that issue the accuracy is good, but not great (I've shot 22s in competition, so I have high expectations :)
- stock trigger is 'ok', yodave kit is better, but a little dangerous if dropped.
- idk why, but the matte finish on my receiver is different from the blued finish on my barrel. Looks like a common thing (from inspecting similar CZs at the store), but it could be better.
- you kind of have to clean the bore from the muzzle, cause the extractor bit will scrape the hell out of your cleaning rods if you try to clean from the receiver.

So I feel like I got a bad barrel, and am looking to sell it, replace it with another 22. I've yet to decide if I want to get another CZ 452/455 or try an autoloader of some sort or savage bolt gun. I'll probably take a gamble on another CZ. I'd just rebarrel the one I have, if I knew where/how to find aftermarket replacement barrels.

My wife gave me this CZ452 Varmint Thumbhole in 17HMR for Christmas, as well as the Monarch 5-20X44 last summer for my birthday. I'm not one for laminated stocks, but it's the only way you can get a thumbhole stock from CZ, it's well done and I'm sure I'll grow to love it, it fits well. I only have 200 rounds through it and it seems to be accurate. I expected to have to work on the trigger, but happily this rifle seems to have a good trigger. The bolt is a little scratchy and stiff, but that will improve over time.

This my first .17HMR and I'm enjoying learning the cartridge, it sure is flat shooting.

This is my first CZ rifle but I do have a few CZ handguns and two Brno rifles. I like them all.

I have a 452 Varmint. It shoots pretty well. I have no complaints and would buy another CZ rimfire. I may just do that this year. I am pretty interested in handling their newish semi-auto 22 rifle. Love to have a 452 Scout too, just because...
