Will you buy a semi-auto "sporting rifle/shotgun" by Nov., to avoid...

I've pretty much got all of the essential bases covered as far as my collection of firearms goes however I may pick up a small supply of AR mags which I plan to do regardless of how the election turns out. But I still feel that America is in pretty rough shape and I've been investing in books and knowledge particularly in the area of processing wild game and foraging. IMO you're Better off safe than sorry.

I plan on picking up a Nagant while they're still under $100, and an AK74 variant while the ammo is cheap. I just bought an AR15 with my taxes and already have an AK 47. I see ammo as a better investment than more new guns. Old guns might be a different story.

Mulling over the idea of buying a couple of stripped lowers and uppers, but my main focus this past year has been to build up my reloading supplies and equipment.

As has already been mentioned, a better application of our money...would be to donate it to the GOP candidate's election fund rather than spend it all on firearms.

Putting a Business friendly (and 2nd A. friendly) president in the White-House will do more for us than anything else.

I just buy when I want. It's the parties that are out of control, they control congress and the senate votes. Remember they just had them past this health care and read it later law. We need real patriots in congress and the senate not the carpet baggers we have now. How would you like a job that pays you full pay in retirement after four years of work.and when you die your spose keeps drawing full pay.

For the panic, I have the cure.

PM me about an AR 180.
So no I will not buy another hi cap gun just because of the pending assault on liberty.
I would be happy to sell one though.
Would that make me a election profiteer ?
:what: Oh dang it. The thought police are at the door. :uhoh:

I'm buying a Saiga in 7.62x39 but only because I want one, has nothing to do with any panic or fear of restriction. I'm just tired of my Mosin's beating my shoulder to death...

Some of you guys are good comics. The title of this topic has no hidden agenda or assumption. It is partly an 'escape' from my company's
Initial Training, far from home. Any other agenda would have been clearly listed.

My next semi-auto will be a second Garand, and as with the first, only from the CMP. I never buy just one example of a favorite type. The only other semi is the single SKS with the Tech Sight.

The motive is to generate entertaining discussions, for any of us who (unfortunately) spent most of our lives having little or no interest in guns. It seems to have worked out.

Only buy one if you were already going to. You probably should stock up on ammo.

I seriously doubt the chances of any antigun measures getting through.

However, if Obama is reelected, there will be a second Great Obama Gun Panic, so purchasing now will allow you to avoid shortages and profiteers.

The sky is falling!

Helmets for sale! Get your helmets here! $200 dollar each!

I am not planning on buying anything extra. There are some that I want and will buy if I find them at a decent price. Now on the othere hand in several months I am going to sell off a bunch of my extras and unwanted guns and accessorys.

I have a stripped lower on layaway but that has nothing to do with November. I hope to have it done by summer. :)

I figure there will be a 2nd great run, but it will be in August with everyone buying everything they want to sell at inflated prices in September and October. lol

They don't have the votes, for now. With the congressional job approval at 12% most of the republicans will be replaced though only 1/3 of them will be up for re-election every 2 years, so it takes time for them to get a democratic congress back in. Two of the 9 justices are suspected to retire soon also that could turn several gun restrictions that were voted down 4/5 or 5/4.

So is there a reason to panic now, no. I am predicting that it would take at least 2 more years (2014) until they even have to votes to make it possible.

I have an AR 15 I will be shopping on the market as it gets closer to November. If I can get good money for it, of course I'll sell it. I already have another.

I bought my SKS this year, but not because of who is in, or might be in the White House. If there is a new AWB, I don't foresee all the AR15s and AL47s being grandfathered in like under Bubba Clinton. Those will be contraband.

I already have enough of the said offending firearms to supply several platoons completely. So my answer would be, only if there comes to me a screaming deal that anyone on this forum would scoff up in a heartbeat.:D Now I am presently and will be in the future putting away enough primers and propellant to help me weather any election induced shortages that may develop. BTW I have some really cool busted firearms to give up if they ever have one of those buyback thingies again.:neener:

No buying but I will be willing to sell a couple at inflated panic buying prices just like I did last time then replace them with cheap buyers remorse rifles after the panic dies down.

Yeah I know it's not nice to take advantage of silly panic driven people but hey it's easy money in the gun fund!

I'd buy whatever you intend to buy. If it turns out to be a good investment, so be it. If not, you wanted it anyway. You speak about "gun control" and a new AWB... what makes you believe that existing firearms would be grand fathered? Hence you'd have about $2 worth of scrap.

I might buy a couple to avoid having to wait another six months to a year for the prices to drop again.

If I see some for a good price, I might buy two. I like the idea of having similar guns with different setups, but if AK's climb up to $1200 again, money might convince me do just buy adjustable for the one that remains.

I see a "reasonable investment" to be spending that money on legislative action to prevent a degradation of our rights instead of the short sighted selfish approach of buying another firearm.
I agree, and this is why I finally joined the ISRA and NRA this year. Illinois politicians are suddenly on a gun control rampage, and our state is a joke with gun rights as it is.

I really don't think they'd make a bunch of law-abiding citizens felons with the stroke of a pen.

No, not immediately. They might give us 90 days to turn them in. After the 90 days then we'll be felons. :D

A lot of really bad legislation has been passed with the stroke of a pen. ;)
