Got my new Richmond Rifle from James River Armory recently. Haven't shot it yet, but it is beautiful. Just got some caps and 58 cal balls and hope to try it out. It has a 1-60" Hoyt barrel and is reputed to be accurate. Being from Richmond I had to have one. In the pic is a Pietta 1851 I recently 'traded' for to add to the genre.

That's awesome!

One of the guys I reenact with has a James River Enfield and it's top notch.

Congrats on your purchase. I love that yours is the shorter two bander too. It definitely stands out from a Springfield. The barrels on those are quality and will be accurate for sure.

Are you going to be shooting minies or round balls?

I have an older Armi Sport Richmond that I bought probably 15 years ago. My wife loves it and has claimed it for her own (we live fire all the time). Mine is the regular three-bander and only really looks any different from the Springfield by the nosecap and the hump lock. Yours really stands out!

I wanted the carbine but they only had a rifle and musket size. He mentioned that the rifle was likely the most accurate so I went with this.

I only have ball now, but hope to make Minies someday. Any recommendation? They told me that 50g of 2ff and a ball will work fairly well, but minie's shoot better.

I plan on shooting in a muzzleloader match coming up (round ball only). Those guys use Hawken's so I'll stand out with a Civil War rifle. That'll be good since I'll likely get my butt kicked : )
