i pick up a new SS rifle to hunt predators with but it is kinda hard to hind the SS barrel. i dont want to do any camo tape stuff but want something that i can take on and off easy. something like a ghillie to slide over the barrel and maybe action/scope.

i did a search and found one other thread on this topic but it was 5 years old and all the pics were busted.

so what do you guys use? or ideas you have? pictures are best.

There is a product that copies an Ace bandage wrap that clings to itself, but is NOT adhesive. I,ve seen it in army BDU camo and now the newer ACU pattern, it is reusable. I always see it in the Clothing Sales shop on army posts, its a commercial product so should be available elsewhere. OR, just cut a long strip of burlap and wrap that around your rifle, worked for the Russians in WW2.

I work at a hospital, and it sounds like you're describing Coban. I've never seen it come in camo though, that would be pretty cool.

A lot of 'gun paint' sold at sporting goods stores wipes right off with solvent. Burlap is a proven solution.

Or go to an archery shop. They have camo covers for bow limbs that attach with velcro.

McNett Camo Form Tape is what you want. It is non-adhesive and will not stick to your firearm. You just overlap it 1/4" when wrapping your gun and voila, it is done. No voodoo or witchcraft. The bonus is you can change your camo as the seasons change, the tape is reusable. I ordered a roll of ACU Digital and one Snow Camo...I am covered, or my guns are. Originally, I was going to have my AR camo dipped but seeing as it is $200 and I would have to disassemble the gun, I opted to leave it black and just add the form tape.

Just go to an auction site and look for McNett Camo Form Tape and you will see...It is on Amazon as well.

This is the McNett tape in action. As was mentioned, it is basically just camo Ace bandage type tape.

Personally, I prefer to paint things, and the only reason this rifle hasnt been painted yet, is because of the Houge over moulded stock. Once I decide if Im going to keep it or not, Ill likely ditch the stock for something better and it will be painted.

I've used Vetrap also, but not on the barrel, and it works pretty well. If you use any kind of tape be sure to confirm the zero. A few years ago I put some camo tape on my varmint rifle and it changed the point of impact by a couple of inches at 100yds.
