OK, so a lever action shotgun in .410 beckoned to me, and I answered the call. I guess it would do fine on possums and armadillos, and maybe against upright bipeds it might not be a show stopper, but it might force an intermission. I suppose it's really a "fun gun.". Your thoughts?

Seems to me that the specialty 410 loads for self defense may work OK at reasonable distances. The one with three buckshot in it for example.

My lever 410 is a modified 1893 Marlin . I should get at shooting that sometime this summer. My plan is to load my own using full brass cases.

No different than any other 410 as far as shooting. The lever is tough for some to get used to but easily mastered. I use my winchester 9410 a couple times a year on dove. It is a bit awkward at first and follow up shots are slow. I got the two I have as a novelty 410 as I really like the 410 for small game. I have the screw in chokes and use modified for most all hunting. I have yet to run slugs through it, just never got around to using them in that particular shotgun.
Keep in mind the self defense ammo is made for the pistols and almost worthless in a full length barrel, not to say it has much use in a pistol.

Definitely a fun shooter.
