Secret Agent Handgun

I'd probably go with a Rohrbaugh R9 for deep cover...assuming a handgun was not part of the cover character and needed to be secret.

Secret agent, licensed to kill, on James Bond style missions? Something suppressed - .32 ACP or larger.

Walther P 38 "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." or like Charles Vine "The Second Best Secret Agent" Broomhandle Mauser.

If I was able to carry, it would be a 638 Smith. Be my luck I was undercover in a speedo though.... me in a speedo,.. there's something that makes you go UGH!!

A P-64 - a slick lookalike of the Walther with plenty of oomph (9x18 Makarov). And on top of that, in this fictional pseudo-Bond scenario, I'd leave the shell casings lying where they fell, so they suspect it's a turncoat, and not me!

Depends. Bond, the PPK. Leiter, the M1911. Yah, I'm going with Leiter. ;)

Okay, there I go starting a thread and didn't put my pick. I'd choose a G19 hands down. I'm very precise with the one I own, and 9mm can be found anywhere. I really live the ASP by seventrees. Very cool, very spy. I'm also a fan of my lick breech llama .380. Dead accurate, tough as nails and a 2/3 scale 1911 that's flat and sexy. I'd take any beretta 70 or 1934/35 series as well in .32, .380 or .22lr

Easy.... A Beretta 93R with a folding stock and a 44 Automag. I read a lot as a kid, I wonder if any of the younger members know who inspired my choices? And no, it wasn't Dirty Harry or any movie with Steven Seagal in it. I know my choices aren't very good for deep cover, but they worked well for my literary hero :)

Agent

The OP question has already been answered in real life. The CIA Agent in Pakistan that took out two robbers (or as some say two kidnappers). And was then arrested and imprisoned until we paid millions $$$ to free him. The Police filmed and revealed what he carried on him. I thought the list was interesting and informational. Among the things listed was Glock 19 and 5 magazines and 75 extra rounds of ammo. Looks to me, he was prepared to "run and gun" in his everyday life. Turns out he needed to be prepared. So there's the answer. A deep cover Diplomatic spy that really was a CIA Agent carried a Glock 19. I've owned well over a hundred pistols and I cannot fault his choice even a tiny bit. I also carry a 19 or a 23 the vast majority of time.
