is there a gun cleaner that will "wow" me?

I stick to Hoppe's #9 or Sweet's 7.62 as a solvent, and generally RemOil as a finish preservative and light lube. #2 grease for most rails, and graphite in some applications.

MPRO-7 / Hoppes Elite, cleans better than any of the other cleaners and solvents I have used. Its especially efffective for carbon and lead fouling, and has no Harsh odor or fumes, and it doesn't cause a skin reaction like no 9 and shooters choice when you use it often or clean several guns at a time.

For rifles, the only cleaner that has ever wowed me is Sweet's 7.62 Solvent. It's closer to a gel than an oil and stays where you want it. I use it for barrel break in and have had great results with older bores in Enfields, SKS, etc. as well. A gunsmith recommended it years ago. He said he had barrels he would have sworn were clean that produced that tell tale blue green on the patch from jacket fouling after using Sweet's. Here's an article you might like.

Ed's Red wows both me and my wallet.

Same here. I have quite a collection of cleaners and lubes and Ed's works just as good or better than many commercial products.

I just cant imagine this would work better than CLP, does it?

I use Ed's Red to clean vs. clean, lube, protect

I use Ed's Red without the lanolin. Next batch I make will have the lanolin so it "should" clean and protect for short term storage.

For long term protection I like Eezox.

Ballistol. I used to use CLP all the time, but wanted to try Balkistol for a while. Much easier on my hands, and I feel that it does a better job cleaning the gun ( even the brush is clean after using Ballistol). Leaves a nice, thin, slick residue wherever you use it.

2nd for Ed's Red

I have been making this since graduating CST in 87' - If you are using large volumes it make sense $$$. I also thin down STP with marvels and ATF and K1 for a lube. Works very well.

Cant beat plain ol' Hopes 9 and CLP.... ALSO SLip 2000 for lube work well.
I Found this new one , "Gun Butter" works great for lubing and doesnt attract dirt or lint on a carry piece and make cleaning a breeze. After the Gun Butter builds up, it starts to work even better.

Found it/them!
Eezox and Kroil

Kroil is great for severe lead build up, it just burrows under everything! Its kind of freakish as to how well it penetrates. It needs a bit of time to creep, but it breaks virtually anything loose given enough time.

Eezox is kind of like BF CLP, but better IMO, plus the treated surfaces stay clean much longer.
The first time you use Eezox its a real PITA, but subsequent cleanings are a breeze, its really a great all-in-one product.

for the record, I still think BF CLP is a fine product.

cleaners

I have a shop full of just about every cleaner mentioned here..

I now use bore tech eliminator

stuff is unreal for gettting a barrel really clean

you really have to try it . no amonia

I've always used Hoppe's No. 9 and have never had a reason to complain. About 10 days ago I bought a used pre 64 Model 70 barrel that had a really dirty bore. The barrel was over 50 years old and looked like it had never been cleaned. I would run a brush through the barrel about 5 times and let it soak in No. 9 overnight. I did this for about 10 days and each day the patches would come out completely soaked with green copper and carbon residue. The barrel cleaned up completely shiny and the bore and lands look like new. I've tried other products but I will contine to use No. 9. BW

I have used just about everything mentioned here and will have to say that the Bore Tech Eliminator blows them all away. No smell non toxic and works in minutes, and will not harm the bore if left in too long. By far the best cleaner I have ever used.

I was going to say Eezox, but I was beat to it. I find it an excellent cleaner/lube. For the really grungy stuff I use various other things, including my own formula that would put me on the EPA clean up site if they found out about it, but it sure does work!! I've tried most of the other stuff mentioned here and really most are pretty good, but none of them "Wowed" me. If/when you find a "WOW!" product, let me know.
